Wishing Callie-Anna Rose Bates a blessed 6th birthday! Don't you just love this little girl's "elephant ears," as her family calls them? We snapped this photo of Callie last summer during a visit with the Bates clan. She refused to have her picture taken until someone agreed to push her around on a bicycle. Smart girl! Today is also Jennifer Duggar's 8th birthday.

I think she's adorable & I don't think it's cute or nice that they call her ears elephant ears. I had big ears as a child & I found such phrases hurtful. Let's think about what we are saying & build her up, not put her down.

I think you should stop saying she has elephant ears she probably won't thank you for it when she is a teenager or interested in boys. Poor thing.

She is darling! Please back off from the nick name. If you were not in the public eye, it might be fine within the context of a loving, fun, family environment, but UNNECESSARY EMOTIONAL HARM could be inflicted on this sweet girl. She could end up feeling very insecure about her looks and there is no reason to do this to her. Having your family on TV and in the public eye opens everyone up to extraordinary criticism. Some people are prone to say some awful things. You are such a fantastic family, fun loving, humble, supportive of each other, very loving and solid! Your love for each other and the Lord is a tremendous example to people everywhere.
