They must have short services to have them so close together.
ReplyDeleteActually, the 10:00 is Sunday school and 11:00 is the worship service. My husband and I went while on vacation a couple of years ago. It was awesome and the Bates are down to earth and loving people.
DeleteI would definitely check it out whenever I get to TN. I would love to meet this family.
DeleteI just wish I DID live near Knoxville so I could attend Bible Baptist Church!!!
ReplyDeleteDo his religion allow Christmas trees?
ReplyDeleteIf I weren't so far away, I'd be there tomorrow.
ReplyDeletemy family is thinking of visiting, has anyone been to their church?
ReplyDeletePlease see June 25th respone
DeleteWe are vacationing in Tennessee in August. We hope to stop in for prayer meeting. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe 10:00 o'clock service is Sunday School and the 11:00 o'clock service is the worship sevice. It is the standard Baptist service with worship music and the preaching of God's word from the Bible. The family is extremely friendly and down to earth just as you see on TV. They are the real thing.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention we were passing through the area when we visited the church. If you are vacationing in the Gatinburg area it isn't to far.
ReplyDeleteIt's a little over an hour from Gatlinburg.
DeleteIs the service still held at the Holiday Inn?
ReplyDeleteYep, it is. :)

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI sent an email to the church regarding a question and received an email back stating that the email address is no longer active. Do you know the current email address or how I could contact them? The email address info@biblebaptisteasttn.com did not work. Thank you for your help!
Blessings!
Hi Mom For Christ,
DeleteWe will let the Bates know that there seems to be a problem with their email address. That is the only email address that the church currently has. May we ask what your question is?
Lily and Ellie
Hi Lily and Ellie!
DeleteThank you for your response. My email was about my recent desire to dress modestly. My family and I absolutely adore the family and show. My husband and I recently found Mr. Bates' sermons on their church website and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to them.
I have had dressing modestly on my heart for a while now and wanted to see what encouraged the family to begin wearing skirts? I was reminded of this desire once again while my husband and I listened to Mr. Bates' sermon about "Departing or Being Destroyed". I want to make the right choice and depart from the things God desires us to flee from.
I have never dressed immodestly, but would like to know what Bible verses or thoughts helped the family decide to wear skirts and dresses? Are there specific verses that state this? God tells us that our bodies are His temple; therefore, I want to do everything to praise and glorify Him, including dressing appropriately. I want to make the right choice and depart from pants and other clothing items if necessary, but would like some guidance first.
I have also noticed that some of the daughters have chosen to wear pants on occasion. I was curious to know what encouraged those choices and how they decided pants or skirts were best?
Thank you so much for your help and guidance. I look forward to hearing from you all.
Blessings!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteLily and Ellie would you happen to know if the Bates are "Calvinists" or "Armenians"? I myself am a "Calvinist". I'd appreciate a response.
Thanks
Jerry
Hi Jerry,
DeleteThe Bates are Baptist, and many Baptist churches prefer not to take an official stance on either Calvinism or Arminianism.
Hope this answers your question.

Does the Bates family still attend Bible Baptist Church of East Tennessee? We are planning a trip to Gatlinburg end of March and have been looking for a church to attend who aligns with our beliefs.
ReplyDeleteThey do, and they love visitors! This post has all the updated info about their new building: http://www.batesfamilyblog.com/2017/08/bates-new-church-info.html

What a blessing this church is. So many fans of the show can hear the gospel of Jesus Christ through Gil's preaching. I'm glad he answered God's call and is serving the Lord. Prayers for you Gil! None are righteous (Romans 3:10), and all are justified through belief in Christ's finished work on the cross ( Romans 10:9). God bless! If God saved a wretch like me he can save anyone!
