We have some good news and some not-so-good news. The good news is that next week's episode of Bringing Up Bates could be the best one yet. The bad news is that it is also the season three finale.
Nathan Bates travels to New York City to surprise his girlfriend, Ashley, and ask her to begin an official courtship. What do you think of this sneak peek video?

Oh this is the last episode? Is there a season 4? I hope! I love this family, their happiness is contagious!
ReplyDeletelooks like such a fun episode! cant wait to watch it!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable couple!! I can't wait to see this episode and what the future holds!
ReplyDeleteI hope season 4 comes out soon! It's just a season finale, right? not series finale cause I may cry if not
ReplyDeleteAshley is adorable!! I have a question though. Nathan asks is Ashley could give up the City--why would Nathan not give up the country? Why would Ashley have to totally uproot for him? Why not Nathan move to NYC??
ReplyDeleteNathan said in the restaurant talking with his parents that he doesn't want to live in the city because it's too crowded. I'm sure this is a discussion the couple have had a lot
DeleteI wonder if Ashley has said she likes country living. That can be a real challenge. My husband grew up in the country, and I'm all city. The boredom I have felt living the "quiet life" has nearly given me a mental break down. We now plan visits several times a year to big cities --and for me the 24 hour hustle and bustle revives me. I hope they can come to a nice compromise.
DeleteMaybe because Nathan has a job and that is why she will move to TN. I know the boys, young men, work with their father in the tree business, but looks like Zach got his own job when he married, Lawson had his lawn cutting business and now is pursing a music career. Do not know if Nathan has his own job. Remember reading that he wants to be a pastor.
ReplyDeleteDoes Ashley have a job? I know she is/was in culinary school. I imagine she would have much greater job potential in NYC than the country of Tennessee. If Nathan wants to be a Pastor then by all means there is a mission field in the 5 Burroughs!!
DeleteWho knows she could open a restaurant in Tennessee and maybe bring a new cuisine there!
DeleteAshley is in culinary school. I surely hope she finishes before marriage.
ReplyDeleteIf they are courting doe that mean engaged with their philosophy? I am not familiar with courting versus dating--or are they the same--just different words??
ReplyDeleteNo. Kelly Jo said it's their equivalent of "going steady". First they usually know each other for a few years then they court and then a few months later (though it wasn't for Michaela) they get engaged. Courting is like dating but where their at the point where they are taking the relationship seriously or "dating with a purpose". Also with courting usually it's no physical contact until marriage except hand holding which is usually excepted when they get engaged. Although Michaela did huge Brandon during courtship and engagement because she is a "hugger". So it can vary by couple.
DeleteI wrote a comment a couple of days ago about Nathan having different physical boundaries in his relationship, than his siblings had, but I don't see it published.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how that could be offensive: clearly Nathan and Ashley do seem to have different rules: they hug, hold hands... I was just commenting on how great it is that the Bates trust their children to make tbeir own choices. ;)
Hi there,
DeleteLooks like your comment must not have gone through. Would you mind posting it again? :)
Lily and Ellie
Hi, thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. Sorry for my insistence, I just didn't see it come through for a couple of days so I thought you hadn't accepted because I was noticing the less strict behavior Nathan and Ashley seem to have. :)
DeleteThank you for publishing this.
In my first comment I was praising the parents for respecting each child's sensibility and choices. What works for one could not work for another, so it's nice to see that after raising them with principles, Gil and Kelly let them make their own choices and set their own boundaries.
Please clarify if there is a season 4. Just love this family ! They have tears and laugh ! Feeling something reassuring and happy out of them..... Hope they keep filming whitout their spirit.
ReplyDeleteShe. Will season 4 start?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why you're trying to hide Nathan's different physical relationship with his girlfriend... I mean, it's in the video, it's not a secret...
ReplyDeleteWhen will season 4 be seen on UP? Are they already filming?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the song playing in the background as Nathan and his family are leaving Ashley's home after surprising her - " your love pulls me through" is what I think I caught as the lyrics?
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia,
DeleteThe song is called "Together" by Marie Hines, Derek James, and Gary Philips.
Blessings,
Lily and Ellie
I love the two of them.
