Websters on Parenthood

"John is the best with Allie. I leave her home sometimes, if I'm going out shopping late...and she's in perfect condition when I come back."
-Alyssa (Bates) Webster

In the following video interview, Alyssa and John Webster share an update on their lives as parents to 13-month-old Allie Jane Webster.

  1. Parenting is challenging. That is why there is no physical or emotional way the Bates or Duggars could meet the needs of 19 children. From watching the shows it appears the Bates have tried to do a much better job at showing love, fun and affection, but somewhere someone is getting lost in the crowd. I hope Alyssa and John take the time and space needed for each child. It should not be a contest of who can physically reproduce the most, but a true love and joy for the gift of parenting...whether one child or???

    1. A 15 year old does not need the same amount of attention that a newborn does. The bates family meets their children's needs and they certainly don't view them as a number.

    2. In fact Alyssa and John aren't going to follow in the footsteps of her family. They said they want (only) 6 children.

    3. I do find that the Bates are a lot more affectionate and taken care of. Also, since more of the older kids are out married, this leaves space for the younger ones to be the protagonists.

  2. I couldn't agree more with Alyssa. Parenting is a LOT of work. It is definitely wonderful seeing your children grow, and learning how to do new things. I wonder how many children John and Alyssa will have.

    1. They want six! Go back and watch their latest videos!

  3. Not to be critical, but one would expect a child to be in perfect condition no matter who he or she are left with. Scary to think about any other scenario.

    1. I think by good condition she meant happy and clean not necessarily hurt.

    2. I think it was a joke!

    1. I agree! So many people think it's funny--or expected--to think Dad's are buffoons at parenting. So unfair and untrue.

    2. *Some dads are good parents some aren't.

  5. She is looking forward to taking her kid shopping?!? That is shallow.

  6. How is that shallow? It's exciting when children start picking out their own clothes and giving preferences. It's exciting not shallow!

  7. Shallow for looking forward to taking your little girl shopping?

  8. Sometimes words can be taken out of context or misunderstood. Plus, the videos are short snippets of longer conversations, so a lot of meaningful dialogue is lost and you don't get to hear or even read everything that was said. Alyssa is a young mom that is learning her way of parenthood in front of a very skeptical public eye. As long as she and John put God first the rest will fall into place. I think the more pictures the family shares with the public, the more scrutiny and attacks about parenting they will receive. I would like to see them use their instagram and social media pages as a way to minister to others ! Their family is beautiful but I am not sure that their public social media pages are the best place to show pictures of the children and babies. There are too many critical and mean spirited people out there that want to be negative and hurt other's feelings. Blessings over them !

    1. Agree completely. Also, things seem to have shifted from ministry to being all about them and their babies, etc. and their personal lives. Please get back to ministry!!

    2. I just want to point out that once you go on tv you need to be commercial, to be something that people would wanna watch. What do people wanna watch the most? Love stories, cute babies and stuff lik that. ;)

  9. I'm glad to see that they are enjoying Allie and not rushing to have another baby right away.
