ReplyDeleteLittle People, Big World and The Little Couple are both terrific family shows on TLC...as well as shows like 60 Minutes,and 60 Minutes Sports, Disney movies, sports events and the Rio Olympics starting August 5th! Nothing wrong with modern day TV, if you choose wisely.

DeleteA lot of Disney movies are full of seemingly "innocent" magic and witchcraft. Its called desensitization. Read what God's Word says about witchcraft. Also, read Walt Disney's background. Everything that looks good ain't.
DeleteDisney shows a lot of magical themes, and they're organization is involved in the occult. They make involvement within magic and satanic activities as such by portraying magic in a positive light in various movies in contrast with a type of negative magic. Except there is no good magic. I don't care how you embellish it, magic (I'm talking real magic) is in no way shape or form honouring to God or good for a bible believing christian. You can research the different forms of magic Disney uses, you'll be surprised!

ReplyDeleteI suggest the Anne of Green Gables movie and its sequel as well as The series "Road to Avonlea." Also, the "Wind At My Back" series is one of my favorite!!! They are so sweet and good stories for both young and old. All will be entertained.

The Great British Baking Show is wonderful! It's on PBS, and there is one season available on Netflix. Each episode, contestants do a series of baking challenges, and then one person is eliminated. Unlike a lot of American reality tv, the contestants are all kind and supportive of one another, and the judges offer smart and useful critiques. It's a wonderful show!

DeleteI rather watch shows from the UK than from the US. In the US, they seem to think a concept only works when a lot of rude language is involved. However, in other countries like the UK, they luckily don't have that view. And of course, British humor is awesome!
I love that show. It's so relaxing and the food is ridiculous so it's funny without meaning to be.

ReplyDeletemovies: all Unusual Films productions, such as Milltown Pride, Beyond the Night, Flame in the Wind, the Printing, etc. They also have some kids' movies! Appalachian Trial, the Golden Rom, etc. These are great Christian movies.
Also Mary Poppins, Silent Night with Linda Hamilton, the Inheritance, the Book Thief (although it's really sad), Sophie Scholl, Courageous, the Ultimate Gift... there's a lot!
Btw, as a reply to my own post, Silent Night, the Book Thief, and Sophie Scholl are all historical wartime movies and are not for little kids. They are great movies but they contain violence and/or death, as well as a bit of cursing in atleast the first two. Otherwise they are great movies that I would encourage anyone older to watch.

ReplyDeleteAnne of green gables, little house, old western movies pre 1950 (Alan lad ones), BBC Austen adaptations (Dickens ones good for more mature audiences), the original cheaper by the dozen, original 'yours, mine and ours', original 'father of the bride' .... For really little kids kipper the dog, Thomas the tank (oldies) and the Beatrix potter 'Peter rabbit' cartoons (the originals not these new things that are out ... by the way I love too at age 25 lol) I really like 'the magic of ordinary days'
ReplyDeleteAs far as tv shows, I would add The Walton's, Little House on the Prairie and Full House (while i personally like Fuller House as well, it might cross the line for some). Dinosaurs was a good show (although it's a dysfunctional family show). Mary Tyler More is a good one, as is I Love Lucy and The Lucy Show.

I am Canadian. So you might not recognise these titles. Littlest Hobo, The Beachcombers, Danger bay, Circle Square ranch, Mr. Dressup, The Friendly Giant, Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High,Degrassi High, Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea,etc. There are some regional Canadian shows too that I would recommend too. We have great programming that crosses a large spectrum that is entertaining and wholesome.

ReplyDeleteWhen Calls the Heart (2014) is a very good show. Its very similar to Little House on the Prairie. There is no sex mentioned or shown on the show, the characters are Christian, they do courtship, there are religious hymns sung on the show, prayers, the women wear skirts and the show teaches morals.
