Gil and Kelly Cheer on the Boys

When the Bates boys attend a basketball camp in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gil and Kelly Bates spend every possible moment cheering them on from the sidelines (video below). The parents of 19 say that it's always encouraging for them to watch their kids use their talents.

    Girls enjoy playing sports as well. Do the Bates encourage their daughters to particopate in organized team sports or are they only allowed to play piano?

    I think it is so sweet that at Gil's age he still feels special because his parents made such an effort to watch him play sports. Go Papa Bill and Mama Jane!

    So glad to see the boys participating in a group sports activity! It would be great to see the girls be able to participate in group sports as well...I think they would be awesome as they are so competitive!

    In our area home schooled kids are allowed to participate in team sports and recreational league sports. It would be very possible for them to participate. I wonder if they don't want the kids to be exposed to other kids when younger, or is it because there is a uniform (i.e. shorts in basketball.)

      In our area homeschoolers can't participate in school sports. My area is about 3 hours give or take north of the Bates family.
