  3. I love Alyssa, nice and spunky character! But I wish she would not bother those little precarious baby heads (seriously a babies head with the fontanels and all still seperated is so delicate) with all them bows and headbands.

    1. They are not that tight. They are cute. Let it go!

    2. I'm sure if her pediatrician thinks it's unsafe, he'll mention that to Alyssa.

    3. Oh my goodness...I couldn't disagree more! I think her headband is just beautiful! My daughter is expecting in 12 weeks & I was just planning to send her a copy of this gorgeous picture and tell her I'd like to look for a sweet headband like this. I'm so happy for Alyssa & John. Congratulations!

    4. Do you understand that the fontanel is on top of the head? The stretchy headbands are nowhere near it. What a cute accessory for the pics.

    5. As a photographer of newborns the majority of parents want a headband on their little girls for most of their nice pictures to show that their precious baby is a girl. :) And headbands for newborns are actually usually super soft and gentle. And for pictures they are only on for a short time anyway. I'm sure her babies are safe. :)

    6. If you will notice the head bands aren't any where near the "soft spot" Alyssa is a wonderful Mother.

    7. I have a feeling that these headbands don't stay on much longer past picture taking. They are cute, but headbands are always falling out. They fall out on me - and I'm 24! Lol! Much less a little baby who is always moving or needing to be nursed or a diaper changed. I'd say they stay on long enough for a picture and that's it. We only see a little of their life - and naturally that's going to be the "good" part since it's advertised on tv. The rest of the time I'm sure things are more relaxed. :)

    8. With the "helicopter" trend, I'm positive that some pediatric medical association would have come out with some anti-bow campaign if this were truly a problem.

  4. The bow headbands are cute. Who made you her mother. Why do you always have to complain about everything they wear. Anonymous February 10 at 7:54 pm.

    1. You sound like you only want one opinion. That's not how it works when people are commenting.

  6. I see these headbands constantly on the females in families who are in this type of belief system. I really don't see it out in the rest of the words so much. Is this some type of identification uniform? We certainly can't mistaken female babies for males. Why are these bows and ribbons so important? Some are so big and seem in the way of the children. Not being mean or nasty here, just wondering why so many of these types of families seem to always put these on their heads, even when they're 6 YEARS old.

    1. No, it is not some kind of identification uniform. They just like the bows and adornment. I live in Los Angeles, not exactly hicksville, and I see them on little girls here, too.

    2. Huh? I see these bows on babies on Facebook pictures all the time. I put hairbows (granted, none that big)on my baby girl all the time because I finally had a girl after 3 boys. I was celebrating all things pink, purple, sparkly, and fluffy!

  7. No matter how many articles/Facebook messages/episodes of the Bates, we know VERY little about their everyday lives.
Alyssa "appears" to be a lovely young woman and a gentle mother to her little girls.
She would not do anything to harm her babies.
In my opinion piercing a baby's ears is far more dangerous and many cultures to that shortly after birth.
    Bless this lovely family.

    1. Anon@ 2/13; 9:09- Plain Jane? That's kinda snarky. Not all girls wear headbands. It's simply a matter of preference. My daughter could never stand to have anything on her head, including hats. As an adult, she is far from being plain or ordinary!

    2. If every girl in the world weares heabands and bows isn't then wearing headbands and bowes plain...? And I agree with the comment of feb 14 1.05 pm that was a snarky comment, I think feb 10 was not snarky they just diasagreed on bows they did not force to stop wearing bows and headbands. I also would not put (yeah maby for a nice picture maby) on infants it is fuss they just don't need. It is more for us the grown ups as one of the other commentors kind off mentioned. And as another commentor mentioned what dome kifs have to wear it just inhibits them, a lot of infants I see are dressed as minny adults and that just doesn't work for them in my oppinion. Children should not be bothered with a lot off things I think so they can just go and explore the world.
