ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I really don't like the last/most recent one! My favorite it the second to last one...but that's just my opinion!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the May 2015 header. The white font pops agains the teal background. I also prefer the full photos to just head shots. I'm sure it's not easy coming up with something new and different so frequently when there are so many family changes/additions.

DeleteI agree that the leaves are very unattractive. Babies are cute without headbands.

DeleteThis is great! We get to see the family progress. I really love purple and black but honestly it's easier to read the other headers than this one. For a first try the current one is awesome. Just needs tweeking. I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteI really like the May 2015 version! The families are all included in one picture but the picture is small enough that the header is concise and not cluttered.

ReplyDeleteI love both the May 2015 and December 2015! They are my favorites. The current one is great, but it still isn't doing it for me. :(

ReplyDeleteI liked the ones from 2016 the best. They looked the most professional and clean. Also, this post title does not make sense. "Anatomy of a Bates header" implies that you're going to tell us the parts of a header and how they're made. This is really just a progression or history of how it's changed over the years. I'm not a journalist but I always think about the meaning of words and try to be as accurate as possible.

ReplyDeleteShe is. She's in a picture with Brandon. They call her "Michael" on the header, though since she prefers to be called that now. Her legal name is Michael, but they wanted her to have a more girl name once they found out that Michel (Different spelling!), David's wife in the Bible, wasn't a good role model. They could only change her name by adding an extra letter, so it became Michaela. When she got older, she preferred to be called Michael.
