What do carat and clarity mean?
ReplyDeleteCarat and clarity are two terms used when talking about a precious stone, such as a diamond. This is most likely referring to Tori's engagement/engagement ring.
DeleteA ring. A ring has a certain clarity (how clear the diamond is) and carat (the higher, the better), there are cheaper and more expensive ones.

DeleteI think either the guys are just being private about it or they just aren’t courting yet. They don’t need a turn, Nathan already was in a relationship, Lawson is focusing on music, and Trace is young and just starting school. Don’t worry, they’ll announce in time, when ready, if they want.
DeleteI am trying to understand the chaperoning issue and male/female expectations in this family. Nathan and Lawson have been away from home quite a bit, persuing their interests. Are they on their own, or do they have chaperones or " accountability partners"? If not, I wonder if any of the daughters could do the same- move away from home and become a pilot or musician in Nashville, or something similarly secular. So far, the girls all live at home, go to Crown College, do online study, and/or get married. I remember when the oldest daughter went to visit her boyfriend in Texas, she had a chaperone with her the whole time. As these children become adults, it would be interesting to know how these situations are handled and whether or not the parents must ok everything they do. It appears as though the sons have much more freedom and more options than the daughters do.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know Kelton asked to court Josie. I thought it was Evan who asked to court Carlin. Isn't Josie still in her teens? Perhaps a bit young to go into a courtship already.
DeleteAlyssa was 19 when she married, so Josie certainly is not to young to court.

ReplyDeleteI hope and I was wondering if the new bates couples Katie Josie and Carlin will get to take their boyfriends over to crater of diamond's state park in Arkansas to pick out the beautiful diamond of their choice to have it made into their engagement rings I think it would be a blast to do that with your boyfriends

Josie is just turning 18? Whoa, slow down! She is so young to be getting so serious. Hope they take their time to get to know each other.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem young yet my cousin started dating his to-be wife when they were 14 yrs old. They didn't go to church so not even religious. Married at 20 yrs old and 3 kids & extremely happy at 30 yrs old. I'm glad they are now going to church but it wasn't a religious thing at all. Some people just know. Me, I was married late. Waited a long time to find the right husband and worth the wait! But, a bit of envy that they found each other so young and are so happy together all these yrs already. Another cousin was in Gr 9 when she met her to-be husband, who was in Gr 11. Now, they each waited to be done school so got married age 23 yrs. 3 kids & 35 yrs old, been together 20 yrs!!! Crazy but true! Very happy. Also not a religious thing, even though they do go to church.

ReplyDelete"Carat" is the weight of the stone, the bigger the diamond, the higher the 'number' or weight is. The "clarity' is the number and/or the appearance of flaws in the stone that can be or cannot be seen. I worked for the Gemological Institute of America in NYC some years ago. They are the diamond grading laboratories for the international diamond industry. I learned that all over there.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between dating and courting for the bates. We have seen carlin holding hands and acting like she was courting for months now, so how was courting Any different than dating (boyfriend and girlfriend). Why must there be a courtship stage prior to marriage? Dating as boyfriend and girlfriend can accomplish the same purpose as dating.
