Happy Father's Day to Gil, Zach, John, Chad, Bobby, and all the dads out there!
The Bates have had a fun-filled, family weekend. Gil and Kelly Bates' kids came back to the homestead from Nashville, Chicago, and Florida for Zach and Whitney Bates' vow renewal at Hunter Valley Farm in Knoxville. Some of the family also spent time in Pigeon Forge's Dollywood on Saturday. Below are a few snapshots from the weekend.

Happy Father Day
ReplyDeleteThe Bates have the cutest grandchildren ever, Bradley and Allie are beyond adorable. Brandon and Michaela are natural born parents, I hope they adopt if they cannot get pregnant. They would be amazing parents to a child in need.
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love to see them with their own children, however it happens!
DeleteI too hope they consuder adoption The children my husband and I adopted in the 1970s have given us endless joy and adventure as do our young granchildren.
Delete1:03. Adopting children shouldn’t be the failed fertility plan. Brandon and Michael are the “parents in need” not the other way around.
DeleteCould not agree moe@8:35.
DeleteWhile I agree with your first statement it really is both ways around.
DeleteI disagree. Who said they were considering adoption as a backup plan for having fertility issues. I have a friend who went through this very scenario. It was a long time be4 she even considered adoption. It is hard as heck to recover from that dream of childbirth, both physically and mentally. That is why Adoption agencies need to be very diligent about their job. Adopting is hard hard hard.... if all parents had to go through the exact process expectant parents do before they could have a child, I think the need for adoptions would be much lower. I believe Michaela and Brandon will be wonderful parents to any children that God sends them. I pray for them all.
DeleteGod said love the children. Not just your own children by blood. Adoption is a great option! A way to care for children in need of loving families. They should be foster parents.
Delete8:35. I completely understand what you are saying. I am a Mother whose family was built through adoption. It grieves me when, unsolicited, in front of my children, people say how wonderful it was my husband and I helped these children in need. No!! My husband and I were the ones who needed them to fulfill our dream of being parents. They are the gifts to us. My children are the fulfillment of God’s Promises to make me a joyful Mother of Children..to have our quiverfull. They are our hero’s in our home:)
DeleteIt's easy to say, "Oh, they should just adopt!", but I think people minimize or forget that adoption is a relationship that comes about by tremendous loss - a biological mother giving up her child, the child being separated from birth mother, and in many cases there are adoptive parents who have struggled with loss through infertility. All parties in this process are best served by professional counseling - before and after. As an adoptive parent, I recommend the book "The Primal Wound", by Nancy Verrier. It is a profound read, that gives insight into attachment and emotional issues that adopted children may face, even if they were separated from birth mom as a newborn. Understanding is key.
DeleteBradley is quite the little man! Zoey has gotten so big, so fast! How blessed and thrilled Gil and Kelly must be.
