Are you looking forward to tomorrow's new episode? You're going to love it! Below are a few snapshots from the show, both of Kelton and Josie's courtship proposal and Tori and Bobby's honeymoon.
What is the point of wearing a skirt OVER pants or leggings? Nothing immodest or 'manly' about wearing a tunic top over leggings. Nothing is showing that shouldn't be seen. Same for a nice pair of jeans or tailored WOMEN'S pants. Thank you.
In that particular faith, I think it may have something to do with setting oneself apart from the world and not conforming to its ways or drawing attention. Although, the Bates daughters are quite generous with the make-up and hair coloring and having TV show certainly draws attention. I'm not sure how these things are justified, yet a skirt must be worn over pants. Sometimese these inconsistencies are puzzling to those of us "worldy" folks. I guess following certain rules makes some people feel better about themselves.
I agree 4:28,If they choose to wear skirt, fine. If they choose to wear pants, fine. But I do not understand wearing both. If pants are masculine without a skirt over them, they are masculine WITH a skirt over them. And they've said they can do anything wearing a skirt and remaining modest, so why the combination? If for warmth, just wear the pants already. But it is obviously their choice to wear whatever they want, no matter what I think.
Easy now, chill out. It’s an outfit for goodness sake. It may not be your style and you have your own opinion of what you choose to wear, but you don’t have to get into attack mode about what she’s decided to wear that day. Calm down.
I don't personally agree with the Bates parents regarding women never wearing pants. They are actually stricter than the Duggars about this, there is a photo out there of Jill and Jessa wearing ski pants BEFORE they were married.
However I actually find the "dress/skirt over leggings" look to be closer to the "dress / skirt over thick stockings / tights" that I recall being a fairly standard Catholic / Christian school uniform style for girls back in the day. But of course leggings are more comfortable than "nylons", you don't have to worry about "runs", etc. And I can't think of any leggings designed for men, even to be worn under a tunic style top. So I don't think leggings are at all a "masculine" look.
And while Tori is getting flak here for the leggings; I'm sure that If Tori were to decide to wear pants (like Alyssa and Whitney), this blog would then be full of posts lamenting how she is selling out to the world.
Oh wait a minute, you guys are talking about Tori's outfit? I thought you were talkijng about Josie's outfit. I am the one who commented about Josie's outfit being a tunic over leggings.🙃🙃🙃
When I go to the gym I do wear a gym over my leggings. Outside of the gym I only wear skirt for my own personal convictions/ preference. I do not think pants are manly or that they are immodest. In fact, most of my friends wear pants. I do think it is okay to see something and come to understand that something is not for you. At the same time I do think that comments suggesting that a lady should wear some pants or that it is pointless to wear pants/ leggings under pants gets old after a while. At times it can be hurtful when people make comments about how you dress when in fact you are hurting no one. I speak of this from personal experience. While I do understand that some people mean well, it is still hurtful. I love all of my friends regardless of whether they wear pants or skirts. I love them for who they are as a person. Again, it is fine to come to the understanding that you don’t feel obligated to dress or live a certain. That is perfectly fine, but we all need see the value of person and not what they are wearing. I can go on and on about this, but this is not the place for that.
Thanks for leaving your comments! Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.

ReplyDeleteI am sure they would be fine with wearing a tunic but they are both in cold places so that would not be all that warm.
DeleteI think skirts over leggings are cute:), especially if you add a cute pair of boots with it!

DeleteShe obviously wants to be feminine and wear layers for warmth. How she does that is her personal choice. Thank you very much.

It looks like her outfit is a tunic over leggings. Girls wear that all the time. Leggings are not really pants.
