Not only was yesterday Independence Day, but the Bates also celebrated two birthdays--Papa Bill's and Kelton Balka's. (Papa Bill turned 80!) Below is a photo of the newly engaged couple, Josie and Kelton. Stay tuned for wedding news.

ReplyDelete??? Not sure if this comment is snarky. Bates engagements are usually short. Around 3-4 months. They are a beautiful young couple. It’s lovely to see Bates allowing a somewhat normal level of affection prior to marriage.
DeleteNormal in our society means being physical before marriage. Normal isn't always something to strive for. Having high moral standards shouldn't be looked down upon and showing "normal" affection shouldn't be something to look up to.

ReplyDeleteBabies are a blessing! And there isn't always "plenty of time to start a family." Some people plan to wait and then a tragedy like cancer can take away that chance to have children.

Babies are most definitely a blessing. They are also a responsibility and deserve parents who are financially and emotionally ready for them. Good for them if they want to have children immediately, but they shouldn't use worst case scenarios to dictate their family planning. The loss of fertility doesn't end one's ability to become a parent if you want children and truly believe every child is a blessing.
DeleteThe loss of Kelton's mother may influence when they have children as well.
12:20- Not everyone wants children right away, some don't want any at all. I admire anyone who is honest enough to admit this and not feel pressure from others to be "blessed" by having children they really don't care to have.
