As of this month, Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart have been courting for one year. Prior to the start of their courtship, they were friends for almost a year. Although they live three hours apart, they are still able to see each other often.
This weekend, Carlin spent time in Nashville with Evan and his family. Accompanied by two of Evan's siblings, Kailyn and Ethan, they went golfing at Top Golf.

DeleteIt's common to wear a promise ring on your right hand. I know all the Bates girls get promise rings from their parents at a certain age because they've shown it on the show.

DeleteI'm sure many people are wondering why Carlin and Evan are still not engaged, but Carlin herself mentioned on the last BUB episode that they were both "in transition" and still busy with school, which makes sense to me. (Tori was still in school at her wedding, but Bobby had graduated.) They'll probably get engaged in the early spring next year.
ReplyDeleteMichaela and Brandon also courted more than a year and didn't get engaged until after Brandon had finished his schooling. While other couples have had shorter courtships, all the Bates have had short engagements. I get the feeling that for the Bates (as well as Duggars), the official engagement is meant to only last as long as the few weeks it takes to plan the wedding.
They make an adorable couple. Carlin looks much prettier with dark hair though...

Sorry Carlin, but you look so much more beautiful with your natural hair color-the color God gave you to help with your skin color, complexion, etc, not a fake color! And you don’t even need to try so hard to be beautiful! Just be you!
ReplyDeleteOh for the love of...! Pretty sure she doesn't care what you think about her hair, skin color or complexion. Just leave the young girl alone to be herself, whichever way she pleases. She's not trying so hard to be beautiful, she is beautiful, Evan obviously thinks so. Let her express a choice without judgement.

DeleteI don't understand why they can't get engaged right now....if that is what they want to do. They don't have to get married until they are both finished with school. Many coupes have a year long engagement. I don't understand why the feeling is that they must get married within 3-4 months after getting engaged.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I’ve understood, the Bates usually have long getting to know periods where they already refer to the other as -boyfriend and girlfriend-, then they enter courtship when they know they want to get married (basically an engagement) and the actual engagement part is used to plan the wedding. So they don’t get engaged until the wedding is imminent but they already know they want to get married during courtship
Deletei think they are just choosing to wait. I don’t think Gill and Kelly are making them wait. People do tend to get even closer during the engagement period, so they may just want that to be a ahorter time. They know that they want to marry each other, so there is no hurry either way.
DeleteI think that it's good that they are waiting to get married. From what I see on the show, Carlin could use some time to calm down and mature. I'm not sure if Evan is going to school... Too many loose ends at the moment in my opinion. Constant fun (bowling, ice cream, dinners out) is only on the show, it's not everyday reality.
DeleteI agree with "m o" overall, and FYI Evan IS in school, he is training to be a professional electrician. I assume they will get engaged either when he is done with that training, or perhaps a little earlier with the understanding he'll be done by the time they get married.
DeleteAnyway, considering "everyday reality" for the Bates usually includes a baby at least a year after marriage, I agree that Carlin and Evan should wait to be more financially stable and mature before they marry.
