With the Bates family adding new little ones every year, it's like a flashback to the good old days, when Gil and Kelly Bates had a passel of youngins. In this Bates exclusive video, Carlin Bates and Trace Bates look back on their childhood. They are only 14 months apart and were inseparable as kids!

Trace seems like he is a really nice sweet guy.
ReplyDeleteJust the sweetest. Cousin relationships are special. Just warms the heart to see these little ones just loving being together. My kids and their cousins are all in their 20's now, and still absolutely love being together...they really are BEST FRIENDS.
ReplyDeleteYes the kiddos are sweet. True also your cousins are your first group of friends.
DeleteOh my, I thought that the cousins were kissing each other from the title! 😂
ReplyDeleteOK I admit Carlin's comment squicked me out a little. It's certainly playing into stereotypes about "inbred hillbillies". Though I also know that aversion to cousin marriage is mostly a US prejudice, and that most children born to first cousins have no genetic problems (even Charles Darwin married his first cousin). Genetic diseases usually only start to show up if cousins keep marrying each other for generations, as often happened in royal families that only found other princes and princesses fit to marry.
ReplyDeleteThen I wondered whether first cousin marriage is legal in Tennessee, and from a quick online search, it appears that it is. But if any Duggar cousins decide they want to marry, they couldn't do it in Arkansas, it's not legal there.
Marrying your cousin is just weird. Like seriously, out of 7 billion people on the planet you choose you cousin? Just no
