Bringing Up Bates "A Latte Love"
- “When we drove away together and we were by [ourselves], I literally felt like, ‘What just happened?’” says Josie. After their wedding, Josie and Kelton spend a couple nights in a rental home in Asheville, North Carolina. “It is so incredible to wake up next to my best friend…” says Kelton.
- On the first day, they take an espresso class at Summit Coffee Co. Although Josie is a coffee fanatic, she discovers that she is not a huge fan of espresso. She prefers espresso plus milk, which is a latte. She and Kelton practice latte art, the term for the designs you can make when you pour the milk into the espresso. The newlyweds also tour a chocolate factory.
- They next day, they hike up to chimney rock, which offers a breathtaking view. “Asheville is such a romantic location, and it was the perfect place to kind of break in being alone, being together,” says Kelton.
- Meanwhile, since the Keilens, Smiths, and Websters are in town, everyone gathers to throw a shower for Tori and Bobby. They decorate the tables with items that Tori can use, like shampoo bottles and diaper cakes. Bobby kicks off the shower with a prayer, and then the guests are able to eat.
- “The boys do not like to go to showers and stuff,” says Judson. “We’d rather be doing something like basketball, football, jumping off Mt. Everest with wingsuits.”
- The shower is attended by lots of family members and friends. As one of the games, they compete to draw the cutest baby, which turns out to be very entertaining. Carlin is the winner.
- Tori and Bobby also attempt to guess what goes in a diaper bag. “There’s two kinds of diaper bags,” says Zach. “What would you put in a diaper bag if you were packing it to be a new mom, or what would you put in a diaper bag for your second kid.”
- It turns out to be an Erin bag. All the other moms laugh when she claims that you need lotion so you can rub it on your baby after they spit up so they don’t smell bad.
- “Honestly, it was so amazing, literally the most adorable baby shower ever,” says Tori. “Everybody was there. They worked their tails off to get it set up.”
josie & kelton are too adorable! what a beautiful place to honeymoon with those gorgeous leaves all around. i agree with josie when she said kelton did a great job picking out things to do. he is so considerate
ReplyDeletetori & bobby's shower was beautiful. loved the decorations and kade's name spelled out in those block letters. those were so cute!
I think Kelton had help picking out things to do. No offense; he just doesn’t strike me as someone with lots of creativity.
Delete5:49, watch the episode. Josie mentions several times how Kelton researched things for them to do.
Delete10:02-I heard what Josie said . I just think someone planted the ideas for him to research.
DeleteIt was nice to see Tori being respectful and happy about her baby shower.
Delete7:55, why not take Josie's words at face value? There is no reason to think otherwise.
DeleteTheir first day as a married couple, and they take an espresso class? That's very unusual behavior. I've never met a couple that did anything like that on their first day of married life.
ReplyDeleteNothing unusual at all. No need to be rude just because it doesn’t fit your personal experiences.
DeleteNot unusual for TV viewing. Most of their honeymoon was private. I doubt strongly the filming was done on day one either. Love that they shared a small part with us.
DeleteYeah, I doubt they took a class or had filming on their first day as a married couple. The clips that we saw were probably a couple days into the honeymoon.
DeleteI don't know, coffee and chocolate on my honeymoon? Sounds like my love language!
DeleteEach couple enters their first day the way they choose. My spouse and I went to work the next day. Our jobs wouldn't give us time off. We went on vacation (honeymoon) 8 months later.
DeleteI agree! We went back to my parents house and my inlaws. We wanted to visit a few out of town guests before leaving for our honeymoon.
DeleteLoved the show tonight. Josie and Kelton are so cute together. Tori's sweet personality was seen at her baby shower unlike her bridal shower. That show made me so uncomfortable. May God continue to bless them all. I enjoy watching God loving people
ReplyDeleteI thought that too. Then I realized that she was getting married and doing full-time college all at the same time. Maybe not the wisest decision but you can tell she is more relaxed now as things are settling down for her.
DeleteSpeaking of college; I wonder if she will ever use her degree???
Delete5:51 - Tori may teach at the school affiliated with the church that employs Bobby. She will use also her teaching degree if she chooses to home school.
DeleteThis family has such incredible energy. A huge wedding and a huge baby shower all in the same weekend. I don't know how they do it all!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLike they say, "Many hands make light work." There are plenty of hands in the Bates family, and they have friends who help them with events, too.
DeleteBeen there, done that! Exhausted by the end of the second day but when out of town family members are already there, it makes sense.
DeleteLots of behind the scenes help!
DeleteSweet episode.
ReplyDeleteI loved the place where Josie and Kelton spent their first day as a married couple! So beautiful! I love this show!
ReplyDeleteI made a game of spotting the men at the shower after Bobby made it sound like Gil and John were the only other men there. I saw Brandon, Evan, and Kelton, along with an unknown man and boy. Chad must have been there also since he talked about being embarrassed about Erin's antics with the diaper bag game.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was funny too, but they were the only three there before the shower started. I bet they were glad when other guys showed up!
DeleteErin was hilarious with her diaper bag game.
