The Bates are back in the studio! Between Lawson and Erin, the family has produced a lot of music. This week, Kelly Bates, Carlin Bates, Chad Paine, Everly Paine, Lawson Bates, and Isaiah Bates traveled to Nashville to support Erin as she recorded a CD of hymns on piano. Tori and Kade Smith, who live just outside Music City, also joined in on the fun. They recorded at Beech Creek Studios.
Even though Kelly has 19 children, she purposes to support each one in their endeavors. If you have been following the show and our blog, you have probably noticed that it is not uncommon for her to travel to Nashville to be in the studio while Erin and Lawson's CDs are recorded. Among other big moments, Kelly Jo has also supported the younger boys at basketball camp, her daughters and daughter-in-law during labor, and Trace while he was pursuing trick riding.
Stay tuned for details on the CD's release date.

Can't wait!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Erin's passion for music and that she can still make time for new projects even with three very young kids. She is so talented!
ReplyDeleteShe is talented; her piano playing is beautiful. I think like so many of us Moms; we try to balance taking good care of our precious children and pursue our careers. Erin May have it a bit simpler than others; as she has built in sitters close by and flexibility with her schedule.
Deletethat's wonderful. she looks well
ReplyDeleteErin is such a beautiful godly young lady. And her music is equally amazing!
ReplyDeleteErin is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteErin is so talented
ReplyDeleteErin is blessed
ReplyDeleteKelly seems to spend very little time at home. What about her young children?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, too!
DeleteShe and Kelly sure travel around a lot! Way more than I am able with only two children!
DeleteI can't wait for her CD to come out!
ReplyDeleteI've wondered that too. Their explanation of home schooling days and filming just doesn't add up- Still plenty of children who need to be educated at home. (not by Carlin- HaHa). Kelly seems to like the lime- light these days- Always directing and giving her two cents on everything. And Erin looks terrific and very happy by the way!!
ReplyDeleteWhy not by Carlin? A lot of first year teachers would be close to Carlin’s age. And school doesn’t take all day. Once you take out busy work, fillers, and transitions you can knock stuff out in a few hours. The older kids probably do online school and don’t need direct instruction. I homeschool and I’m not chained to my home. I still do plenty of activities...some that don’t even involve my kids. I also taught public school for 5 years so I know how much time is spent on non essential activities
DeleteFirst year teachers have a college education.
Delete10:25 - Carlin does have a college education. She is scheduled to graduate with a BA this spring. She started coursework at Crown College and is completing it online through Liberty College.
DeleteI am a teacher. The college degree prepares you to take the Praxis 2 test or whatever your state mandates as the test to earn the teaching certificate. EVERY new teacher will tell you that their 5 years of education DID NOT prepare them for teaching in a real classroom. The only edge a degreed teacher "might have" are classes on managing behaviors in large classroom settings. There are a few classes that help you more deeply understand stages of cognitive development. Other than that, the homeschool packages are designed with scripted teaching guides and scope and sequences from PreK - highschool. If you enjoy being around your children, have strong reading skills and basic math skills, you can be a successful homeschooler! I support homeschooling 100%
Delete10:25... having a college degree does not make you a good teacher or even qualified to teach. I know master level teachers who do not need to be in the classroom and teacher aids (without degrees) who make all the difference in the world to their students.
DeleteThis is unrelated to this post specifically, but I’ve recently gotten really into personality types, specifically Myers Brigs and Enneagram and I have gotten curious about the personality types of each of the Bateses! For any other readers of the blog who are into personality stuff, what do you think the Myers Briggs and Enneagram types of each Bates are? :)
ReplyDeleteI don’t know about Myers Briggs...i never got into it, but since Enneagram is about motivation and not behavior it’s hard to type anyone without having a conversation with them. I can safely say they appear to be a family of more aggressive numbers and only a few compliant/withdrawn but I couldn’t say beyond that. It’s intersting though.
DeleteBusy, busy, busy family - then again it would have to be with 19 children and in-laws and grandchildren. . . . just think of how their family will grow over the next ten years. All the best to Erin.
ReplyDeleteI Love the Bates ,Started watching them from the beginning. They are a great family who really appears to be there for the one who needs supported.God bless you all
ReplyDeletekelly is so lucky to have such talented children! i love how supportive she is of each and every one of them. although i'm older than she is, kelly is sooo my role model!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait
ReplyDeleteWe love to hear Erin playing the piano. Did the Bates kids take music lessons?
ReplyDeleteErin posted that she started piano lessons at age 5. She then earned a degree in music through Crown College. Zach plays guitar, Tori plays the violin, and Lawson plays multiple instruments.
DeleteEnjoy her last CD so much...it's in my car CD player all the time, never comes out and it plays every time the car key is on. Can't wait for the new one.
ReplyDeleteLet's just talk about the Bates girls talents .Michaela=seamstress
