I think the surnames have been used three times because they are then more effective for directing people here through internet searches. If she just wrote ‘Josie’, the page would be unlikely to come up as a suggestion for someone googling ‘Josie Balka’, if that makes sense.
Josie Kelton and Willow y'all started a wonderful family God has blessed you both. Dont rush the growing up they will go row fast enough. May the Lord keep you and hide you always
Nice photos. I have a question....is it a southern tradition to swaddle the baby so tightly that it looks like bean with a head? I know Erin does that as well for pictures. It is just something not done where I live so I find it unusual. Just wondering...not criticizing.
Not a southern thing, it’s just trendy in baby photo shoots right now. It’s a more natural look so the clothing doesn’t distract from the baby. Like the naked baby picture trend of the past we’re meant to do, only covering the baby.
I’m in washington and it’s a thing here, too. I’m in my 40s now so I wouldn’t know it since none of my friends are having babies but the photographer we use for family photos posts her shoots online and all her newborn ones have some swaddled just like this in a neutral fabric.
Swaddling your baby has been done for years. Go to any photography site and look at their newborn shots.. all tightly wrapped ~ it’s just getting them adjusted to bring out of the womb ...
not as single one of mine could stand to be swaddled, much less as tightly as willow is swaddled! i have claustrophobia so i hated doing it but the hospital preferred it so we did until they came home. then we put them in a onesie with legs and feet and it worked much better for them
While there are a few babies who don’t like to be swaddled, most do as it replicates being in the womb, keeping the baby’s arms and legs close to their body, and can help them sleep better.
Yes, swaddling has been done for thousands of years, but this new kind of swaddling seems to be tighter than I've seen before. A bean with a head is a good description.
Thanks for leaving your comments! Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.
You can write Josie, Kelton and Willow Balka, instead of writing Balka 3 times
ReplyDeleteYeah but writing the last name out so many times helps the tags show up better in search results.
DeleteI agree.

ReplyDeleteMaybe in some parts of the south but not all....

DeleteThat’s how you’re supposed to swaddle a baby, it has nothing to do with being southern lol
DeleteI agree
DeleteMaybe it's the photographer's thing, not a southern thing?
DeleteTight swaddling like this is now considered dangerous in my country. Again, not a criticism, just an observation.
DeleteSouthern born and raised here. I never swaddled my daughters like that. They hated being swaddled and I hated how uncomfortable it looked.
DeleteBabies have been swaddled for centuries. This was just for a short time while they did the photo shoot. She was fine.

Delete2:26, this is normal swaddling, and the baby looks nothing like “a bean with a head”.
DeleteI’m from NJ and we swaddle our babies. It gives them a secure feeling like being in the womb ❤️
