Wedding dress shopping with the Bates and Stewart ladies
The next two new episodes of Bringing Up Bates will be centered around preparation for Carlin's wedding, with some additional scenes. This week, Carlin and Kelly and some of the girls spend time in Nashville looking for the perfect wedding dress. They also meet up with Lawson for a competitive outing at Topgolf (two preview videos below).
Next week, it's time to discuss the venue and the budget, as well as watch Carlin and her dad take ballroom dance lessons. Meanwhile, Gil, Zach, Nathan, and the kids build a dog house for the new Bates puppy. And the Keilens prepare for their move from Chicago to the Knoxville area by visiting a rental property.

It is so wonderful to have The Bates back on UPtv! I can't wait to see Carlin's wedding and Josie's baby!!! So many great things ahead! The Bates family is a breath of fresh air. I love their Godly Christian principles and morals. May the Lord bless them for remaining strong in their faith.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all here! Net
I disagree. They are such a fake family. Their new episode was ridiculous. You could totally tell it was staged. So disappointed. My kids used to look up to them. Now I dont want them watching them. They dont dress like they used to either. They dress in the latest fashions just not bathing suits or Crop tops which I can understand. But their kids obviously disagree because Carlin, Alyssa, and Josie all wore jeans and posted it on social media the week after their weddings. They look super cute in them too. So I don't understand why they hold them back from doing it until they get married. Katie would look great in jeans! I hope the show gets better. If not, I pry will just stop watching.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you want them in rags to make you happy. All things change & they are still the same moral family they always have been. The girls should be able to dress in latest fashion. Also how would you like them to film the show. It has to have a routine & flow of filming. This is how the family lives & they are showing it to us, we should be thankful not cranky. They are the best example for your children to follow without a doubt. Just look around you!!
DeleteWhy do you take issue with them wearing trendy clothes? Is someone a bad role model because they buy new clothes from trendy websites vs some random old stuff from a thrift shop?
DeleteI will agree that it’s staged, but all reality shows are. They plan filming about a month in advance. The cameras aren’t there daily, Or even weekly. They film the big events like weddings and birthday parties. They also have some filming planned with select people or next generation families.
TLDR fake: not really Staged: definitely
10:34- Do you still wear the same thing you wore years ago? Would you be happy if they wore pinafores and pantaloons? I purge my closets regularly because clothes go out of style. Fashions do change and it's unreasonable to expect the Bates not to change with the times. BTW, what about the guys? Why is the focus always on the females? The young Bates men are certainly wearing more trendy clothes- form-fitting T shirts and skinny jeans- how dare they!
DeleteSo rude!! They r not fake family n there r no stage! Get real! 🤦🏻♀️ Dont watch the show sinple!
ReplyDeletePlease if you can't say anything nice at all then please don't post rude comments.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it now that there is nothing wrong with this style of dancing? They went on record years ago and said that they avoid ALL FORMS of dancing because of the desires it CAN stir up; as it dancing itself was a sin. Now they are taking dancing lessons. I would think that the parents feel quite silly now for all of those unnecessarily severe rules that they imposed on their children. What a waste of their youth.
ReplyDeleteNone of their changes are surprising to me, one reason being that they've become a part of a whole new world through their TV exposure and fame/money that comes with it. Calico and Peter-Pan collars simply won't cut it now. Another reason is that kids grow up and don't always hold on to some of the extreme religious beliefs of their parents. I've seen this in my own family where there are a number of pastors, where many of the adult children have rejected church altogether. Much of their growing up years were about keeping up appearances and they grew tired of the double standards. As far as the dancing goes, wasn't this wedding dance limited to the father/daughter? I doubt they'd condone unmarried people embraced in a slow dance or rocking out to Steven Tyler.
DeleteI wouldn't say your youth is wasted if you can't dance (plenty of other things to do and learn) or if you have to dress a certain way (you can learn everything you need to know wearing dresses, been done for milennia). I don't think it's unusual for the kids to want to try out different things as they become adults. I do find it strange for the parents to change their standards.
Delete@12:49- How have the parents changed their standards? The dancing issue applies more to unmarried couples I believe. Why would it be wrong for married couples or a father/daughter to dance at her wedding? Maybe they haven't danced in the past because they really haven't had an interest to do so.
DeleteWhy are the dresses they are selling so long!? The ladies are 62"-64" height. Chaney is 67" and she too has to tie a knot at the bottom of the dress. It has got to be hard to walk around in a dress that is knotted at the bottom .
ReplyDeleteI think that most maxi dresses are at a length suitable for models who are quite tall, at least 5'8". I suppose the theory is you can always take up the hem if it's too long, but it's harder to lengthen it if you don't have enough fabric to work with.
DeleteThe Bates aren't designing or making those dresses. They're made according to specificaitons in a factory. Petite sizes are shorter, but if you wear a regular size, it will be a standard length, which is likely too long for some women. I've just learned how to hem things up.
DeleteAnonymous 9/27 @ 2:45pm...the reason is because these dresses are cheap dresses and poorly made. The proportions are not well figured.
