Gil Bates and Carlin Bates, dance lesson
-Gil Bates
What type of dancing is Carlin planning for the daddy-daughter dance at her wedding? She jokes that they are going to start with a slow dance and then "crank it up" (video preview below). You'll have to watch the show to see what happens. Tomorrow's new, 30-minute episode premieres at 9pm ET/8pm CT and will feature Carlin and Gil's dance lesson.

so sweet
ReplyDeleteOne type of dancing should not be the poster child of dance. I really hope that if Carlin and Evan have a little girl she can take ballet, tap, jazz or etc.
ReplyDelete9:28PM: Exactly!!! I hope so too!
DeleteSad i can't watch the Bates. I'd love to see the dances
ReplyDeleteIt goes to show you that the parents 'threw out the baby with the bath water' with dancing. They lived as all dancing could be 'bad'. Now Gil says that this is not that type of dancing. So why didn't they allow their children to 'do that type of dancing'? I hope they feel foolish now. They are and were always extreme with whatever they did or didn't do. Not necessary and they have denied their children lots of activity, education and experiences in life, sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to defend some of the contradictory things I see in religious cultures, but I think the Bates' were concerned about unmarried couples dancing, as it can be suggestive and put two people in close proximity. Now that the kids are growing up and getting married, new circumstances are giving them a different perspective, such as the father/daughter dance. It does look as though Carlin is ready to cut loose and rock it out, though! "Turn up the Radio!" ( Love that song!)
DeleteJust seems so weird to hear him justifying dancing. I wonder if he would have said the same thing before they went on tv. It seems like they've loosened up a LOT on clothing, music, and now the dancing. I wonder if they would have done the same if they had not been on tv.
ReplyDeleteIt’s more weird Gil felt he needed to explain dancing with his daughter didn’t lead to “bad chemistry”.
DeleteAnd before anyone jumps on me, I took ballet for years and think it would be so romantic if my husband would ballroom dance with me.
Delete3:29. Yup x 1000!!
DeleteLove not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
ReplyDelete1 John 2:15
God's Word is truth but I don't think a father/daughter dance at her wedding is loving the world.
ReplyDeletethis is my opinion but I do know there are a lot of Christians who think any form of dancing is wrong and I respect their opinion. I do believe there are some forms of dancing that are wrong but not all.
What makes this dance different from the 'bad chemistry' dances? Surely no one would feel that "bad chemistry" when dancing with one's daughter, anyway.
