Brandon's New Book

Brandon Keilen is a published author! He just released his first book, The Quest Of Quinton: The Mystery of the Golden Scroll. The story is set in the medieval era and is written for youth. Michaela has cheered Brandon on from the moment he started the project three years ago. She was actually the one who encouraged him to write a book.

    Brandon's book may be amazing and hopefully it will sell well. It was published through Westbow publishing which is considered a "vanity press." This means that the author is publishing it on his own dime. As a librarian, I just want to warn others who want to be a successful author, you should not shell out money in order to get a book published. A legitimate publishing house will pay YOU to print and market your book. Vanity presses usually start at a cost of around $1000 and can go higher. Brandon might make some money because I'm sure that this book will be mentioned on the show. Unless you have a reality TV show, steer clear of vanity presses.

      *Reply to 9:49 PM. MO- Thank you for the information. I agree that having a TV show will boost the sale of this book. People should take this warning into consideration before they decide to shell out money to have their book published. I don't think the publishing business is common knowledge.. :o)

    It is good to know about it. Thanks for sharing the book. self publishing is really an awesome opportunity for the writers specially new writers. They can publish their manuscript more faster than before traditional ways.
