Gil and Kelly Bates
32nd anniversary
How did Gil and Kelly Bates celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary? Poor Kelly Jo broke her foot last Friday when she tripped on the last three stairs in the dark and is now in a boot. She and Gil headed to Margaritaville Island Inn in nearby Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where they enjoyed a relaxing evening that involved a to-go meal and Hallmark movies. Does anyone else like to watch Hallmark at Christmastime?

Love the Hallmark movies. So sorry to hear that Kelly hurt her foot. Praying for a quick and successful healing
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely, relaxing way to spend your anniversary! Plus you’re in a southern resort and can enjoy the warm weather!
ReplyDeleteAhhh😔, Poor Kelly. I hope she feels better soon. I love watching my favorite movies when I’m not feeling when. Enjoy your Hallmark marathon. Love from Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteYes Hallmark movies are great. They are family centered and great loves.
ReplyDeleteMost Hallmark Christmas movies are romance centered, not family centered. The characters usually spend Christmas Eve at cocktail parties or other social events, not home with their families.
DeleteI can think of some that were are family centered, usually fitting the love interest into their gingerbread house decorating, caroling, tree lighting, fill in the blank family tradition.
DeleteI love watch Hallmark at christmas time. I've been watching christmas movies since October
ReplyDeleteI thought they didn't watch tv? Those Hallmark Christmas movies show women wearing pants, going out alone when unmarried and kissing people who are not your family. How do they explain this? I hope her foot gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteThey have daughters that wear pants, so I don’t think they have an issue with that. The movies are not real. It isn’t their daughters going on unchaperoned dates, and most Hallmark movies only have one kiss. They don’t show people hopping in bed with others or ever talking inappropriately. They always have happy endings.
DeleteThey are not going to be tempted to sin by those movies. They are not impressionable kids and teenagers, they are adults.
DeleteI like Hallmark movies in small doses. They get pretty predictable. My favorites are the ones that have humor and favorite childhood actors.
ReplyDeleteI don't have cable so I don't watch them but when I did, Christmas was my favorite time to watch. Poor Kelly, I'll pray for quick healing.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is my favorite time of the year, I only watch the Christmas movies on the up channel. Hope Kelly is feeling better soon, Happy Holidays to the Bates family.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday movies are It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Elf, and Miracle on 34th Street (the Natalie Wood/Maureen O'Hara version.) I watch them every year with my family.
ReplyDeleteAwe!! My favorite is It’s a Wonderful Life too. I cry every year when Clarence gets his wings!
DeleteI am reading a lot of Christian opinions, stating that Hallmark movies are anti-Christian. What are people’s thoughts on this?
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are Hallmark is a secular business. They are not Christian. Many of their movies have traditional values, but that’s as far as it goes.
DeleteWell, they are secular, not Christian, so you are going to get secular worldviews, secular lifestyles, etc. They tend to be clean, as far as very little swearing, no immoral behavior.
DeleteI'm Christian and I watch them.
DeleteThe latest issue with a lesbian kiss has turned me off on Hallmark. I, too, find them predictable and a bit shallow.
Deletemy family and me LOVE watching hallmark its so fun to relax have a snack and watch hallmark! i don't know if that's just me or anyone else?!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a pastor. Parishioners rarely come to see me because their lives are like a Hallmark movie. They come because of broken relationships, tragic illnesses, financial burdens, death of loved ones, and a myriad of mental and emotional struggles. I find it very difficult to watch Hallmark movies because I wish that peoples’ lives could be like these Hallmark movies; that real folks would have their happy endings. It doesn’t always work out that way.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Bates did not watch TV?
ReplyDeletei Love hallmark!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty cheesy but now that they have an LGBT movie we certainly don't support them!
