Papa Bill and Mama Jane
(Gil's parents from South Carolina)
"Well when you knock 'em down, you take 'em home!"
-Papa Bill
In this scene from a previous 'I Love You Day,' the Bates couples hear the tale of how Papa Bill and Mama Jane met. It's quite amusing, actually. Definitely not your average love story.
Be sure to tune in to UPtv tomorrow (Thursday, February 13th) at 9pm ET/8pm CT for the Bringing Up Bates "I Love You Day Special." The Bates family will show you all the best moments from their past Valentine's Day celebrations and will also give you an extended first look at the upcoming season, which premieres Thursday, March 5th.

Is there an update on Katie and her special friend. Maybe she will have a I love you day announcement.
ReplyDeleteKelly's special friend is 18 and just started his education. I doubt they will become engaged any time soon.
DeleteYou mean Katie's special friend. I hope they give it plenty of time, but then the Bates kids usually seem to have longer courtships/engagements than, say, the Duggars.
DeleteAwww so sweet. I know now who Erin looks like. Look at mama Jane in this video. We
ReplyDeleteSuch a real response from Papa Bill!!! Love that he said it and Mama Jane loved it!!! Confirms that Gil grew up in a main stream family!
ReplyDeleteWhy does it matter if Gil grew up in a "main stream family"?
Delete@11:58-it doesn’t matter; but I find it interesting he grew up in one environment and once married decided to raise his children totally different!
Delete6:58, ah, got it. Yes, it's also going to be interesting to see how the next generation raises their families.
DeleteThe wording of “Gil’s parents from South Carolina” makes it sound like Gil has different sets of parents from different states 😂😂
ReplyDeletei didnt know there was a special tomorrow!! thanks for posting this! my son already told me to write it down so i dont forget lol. the i love you day shows are always so much fun
ReplyDeleteThat's an unflattering picture of Kelly Jo, with her mouth open like that.
ReplyDeleteShe's just laughing. Stop being so critical.
DeleteYou need to stop judging others. Not your business what someone else's opinion.
DeleteI think its adorable, she always gets sick excited & happy-go-lucky 😊
DeleteThey are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThis story sounds interesting. Wish I could watch it. I did not get to watch the "I Love You Day" special from 2019 because my parents made me and my sisters stop watching the show mid-season 8 because they thought that the Bates showing their faith in God had ceased because they did not mention it often on the show and that the married couples have gone "too worldly" and that the family was beginning to act like their friends the Duggar's and care more about appearances to the viewers and money.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to reply that I have felt the same as your parents. But...I do think the faith part is more edited out or what UP chooses to film. People do not generally talk about their faith every minute of the day. Many of the couples are also becoming very worldly in their dress and way they interact with their boyfriends.
DeleteI agree with your parents 100%.
DeleteLove Papa Bill's comment!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo of Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the still photo of Kelly, yet again with her big mouth open, isn't a flattering moment.
