Babysitting the Bates grandchildren
-Erin Paine
Gil and Kelly Bates might be the parents of 19 children, but babysitting a handful of toddler grandchildren is completely different than raising your own kids of various ages. When the local couples head out for a date night and Kelly invites the grands over for a sleepover, chaos ensues.

Kelly has to have more energy than me. grands can wear me out.
ReplyDeleteKelly has a myriad of children still living at home. I’m sure cameras go at home daughters take over.
DeleteWhy is Gil just lying there?
ReplyDeleteHe had just had shoulder surgery.
DeleteHe’s recovering from shoulder surgery
DeleteHe just has shoulder surgery. You can tell his arm is in a sling.
DeleteAre you serious? Take a good look at him. He is recovering from shoulder surgery, and it's pretty obvious, with his arm in a sling and propped up on a pillow.
DeleteHe had surgery on his shoulder.
DeleteHe had shoulder surgery.
DeleteHi Anonymous 11:53 AM,
DeleteGil had shoulder surgery during that time. That is why you seen him lying on the couch not doing anything.
God Bless! Stay safe and Healthy!

Those toddlers are much too young to enjoy something like that. They need routine, quiet, and food to fall asleep. Maybe in five years it would be fun.
ReplyDeleteThat was extremely brave to do, especially while Gil was still recuperating from his shoulder surgery! I don't think I would have taken that on. Bless Kelly's heart, but Gil probably did not get the healing rest he needed, that's for sure. The couples should have let their dad rest!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous 2:27 PM,
DeleteI am sure Kelly and Gil discussed the matter before actually saying that she wanted to do it and it was only for one night and he wasn’t up chasing all of the kids. The whole recovery time was a three to four month period. So I am sure that one day / night didn’t put a strain on his healing process.

Wow!!! My head is spinning and I’m not even there!
ReplyDeleteDim the lights! Start the bedtime prayer and soothing songs.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering when Kelton and Layla's pictures were going to be added to the family pictures above. No biggie but I just love seeing babies!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing. I’m sure it takes time though. I can’t wait to see the baby pictures they put up there for Kolter and Layla.
DeleteYeah many toddlers looks crazy lol. awe sweet Katie.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the wildness of children today. Erin is a sweet girl. Are they social distancing?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like it to me that Gil got anywhere the recuperation that he needed from the shoulder surgery. Last week he was at that outdoor family party with a cold pack on his shoulder, which indicates his surgery was very recent AND now this silly sleepover with all of those grandchildren. He should have stayed upstairs in his bed recuperating properly with rest and quiet. I hope he healed correctly. They are risk-takers and daredevils. Silly and immature of these parents to be like that. Gil also should NEVER force Kelly to try things that are daring if she doesn't want to do them as he has done in the past on this show ie, ziplining.
ReplyDeleteTwo instances out of a recovery of several months don't tell us the whole story.
DeleteSilly, immature, risk-taker, daredevil because you sit on the couch literally watching your grandkids - not playing with them or picking them up, but just literally sitting there watching - or go to a picnic with an ice pack? Wow. That's some pretty strong language, especially since you know very little of the circumstances other than a few moments on film.
