Bringing Up Bates "I Love you to Piz-zas!"
- Katie, Gil, and Kelly arrive at the Clark home in Berlin, New Jersey, to celebrate Travis’ 19th birthday. They go out for ice cream at Sundaes because Travis knows that Katie loves ice cream.
- Gil takes the opportunity to boast about Travis. “He treats me…and the whole family with respect,” says Gil. “And listen, there’s a lot of people in our family that are not easy to get along with, and you even treat them nice. I’m going to give you an A+ on character.”
- Later, the extended Clark family comes over for dinner and cookie cake. Would Katie want to live in New Jersey if she marries Travis? “I’m happy to live anywhere,” she says “We’ll have to wait and see. But New Jersey would be fine. I like the people there. Person.”
- In Blackwood, New Jersey, the Clarks and Bates go ax throwing. Travis, who grew up playing sports, scores most of the points for his team, but Katie adds a few to bring their total up to 14. Travis’ parents, Mike and Carla, score 33. Gil and Kelly reach 20 points, and 11 of those are scored by Kelly.
- Travis and Katie and their parents go out to a nice restaurant. Katie and Travis sit down at a private table, where Travis has displayed a sign that reads, ‘I think you are SENSE-ational.’ He gives Katie five gifts that correspond with the five senses. The “sight” gift is a photo collage on canvas. The “taste” gift is a fresh-baked pizza. The “smell” gift is perfume.
- The “sound” gift is a framed paper with the words to a song called “Dreams Come Alive” that Travis wrote about Katie. He pulls out his guitar and plays it. “Cause you’re perfect and precious and my whole world, an angel in my eyes, my dream girl.”
- “I can’t believe you wrote me a song,” says Katie. “This is the sweetest thing in the whole world.”
- The final gift is a necklace. Katie starts to cry. “I wanted to ask you if you would be my girlfriend?” asks Travis. The parents are thrilled when she says yes.
- “This has been the best night of my life,” says Katie, who is proud to call Travis her official boyfriend. “It is so nice actually having a name on it.”
- “There’s something just really special watching your siblings find their person,” says older sister Michael, beaming.
- In Tennessee, Erin, Whitney, and Carlin and their husbands are trying to find a new space for the boutique. They have already outgrown the small warehouse on Zach and Whitney’s property and are considering opening a storefront in Rocky Top.
I love your show and I think Kelly is the prettiest woman I have ever seen. She is adorable and the goodness radiates through her pores. Her children are such well balanced individuals and so respectful. I no longer watch the other large family show because I found it very hard to relate to them because a lot of it felt fake to me. I am not a religious person but I feel I can relate to the Bates family. I love their beliefs and how the children carry themselves regarding relationships with the opposite sex. Not to mention all of her children are beautiful inside and out. I'm sure you have challenges just like any family but I get the sense that you don't let the sun set on any problems. I love the fact that I can watch your show with any age child and I wouldn't have to cover their eyes or ears at any point. When I was a child we had the family hour, where the shows actually were family friendly. You can't really find that any more, besides your show. God Bless your family and I hope your show stays on the air for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI love watching this show very much. I missed last night show on the courtship. Will it be aired again & at what time & date would it be shown. Thanks
ReplyDeletefortunately for us, the previous week's show has been on right before the new show so we'll get a chance to see it this thursday. i missed it too
DeleteI second that at 11:01.
ReplyDeleteAww,Travis thinks Katie is perfect and precious, there he wasn't bothered about her pranks after all,and people were commenting he should get away from Katie,I guess he isn't so superficial and judgemental after all,he sees her beyond the pranks and knows her good heart,he's a good guy cos if he reacted to her pranks something like "you're crazy it's over between us" she would have been better off without him,in a way Katie's nervousness is a good test on Travis's loyalty, they're a good match and I'm happy for them.
ReplyDeleteTravis' loyalty should not have to be tested by Katie's immaturity and
Deletepranking, which are not superficial things. So far, their courtship consists of carefully monitored and chaperoned meetings. These staged encounters are what's superficial. Hopefully, she changes her behavior sooner rather than later.
MO- Interesting comment made by Katie about being okay with living in New Jersey. I was thinking back on how many of the kids have actually left the Rocky Top/Knoxville area. Tori's move was short lived... Alissa is the only one who has left and hasn't returned. :o)
ReplyDeleteMichael also lived significantly far away (Chicago) for 4 years
Delete7:40 PM- MO... You're right, I forgot about that. But they returned to the Rocky Top area- not where he was from in Michigan. :o)
DeleteWhat does Travis do for a living?
ReplyDeleteJust a matter of time. Alissa will be back. Michael came back. Tori came back. Distance was the problem for Trace and Cheney.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think Alyssa will be back. Tori and Michael and their husbands were both living in places where neither of their families lived, so they went somewhere with family. Alyssa does have John’s family around and seems to love Florida
DeleteIt's so wonderful to see young people who are doing things Gods way. What a sweet and lovely song he wrote for her.
