Why do parents do that to their children..call them by their middle names? If they wanted his name to be Nathan and to be known as such, why didn't they just name him Nathan Kenneth Bates? This was done to me by my parents. I have been called and known to all by my middle name. It reeked havoc on me when I had to file legal docs, ss card, drivers' license, W-2 work papers, etc. Name your children what you will call them by and how you want them to be known.

I so agree!!! It drives me crazy! The other naming thing that sets me off is when parents give their child the same first name as the father; but a different middle name so it’s not quite a junior! So the kid is called by the same first name as Dad but not a junior!!! Why not just make his name totally the same as his dad??? I’ll never figure out that way of thinking!!!
