"I really could listen to 'em singing all day long."
-Kelly Bates
Another Bates daughter is dating a musical man! Evan Stewart is no longer the only Bates significant other whose family sings. Since Travis was a young boy, his family has had a gospel music group (video below) and has published a handful of CDs. Their newest album, "In God's Perfect Time," was released earlier this month.
Travis is also doing solo music. On last night's episode of Bringing Up Bates, viewers watched him play an original song for Katie when he asked her to start a courtship. The tune is called "Dreams Come Alive" and can be found on all the major music websites (YouTube link below).

All this courtship fanfare makes me cringe. Once again, there's a spirit of "This couple is headed for the altar!" I don't understand the need for such formality when the couple is not engaged or anything. Just date and get to know each other without any expectations of something permanent. This step seems more like the "going steady" stuff we did back in high school or "we're engaged to be engaged." Very baffling.
ReplyDeletePuppy love. Those two aren't ready for marriage.
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful families getting together was fun to watch, and the Clark family’s singing is amazing!
ReplyDeleteMO- They're still together? After having food flicked at me, I'd be out the door. As a parent, I'd be shocked by Katie's tacky behavior. Some exposure for The Clark Family singing group on a TV show perhaps? They do the same thing with Evan's family. Very Staged :o(
ReplyDeleteYou would have been out the door for her playfully putting food in his face? I agree she does do it too much but if something that minor would cause you to break up with someone I think that is a bigger concern. If they are a great person in many other ways then knowone should let something so trivial get in the way.
DeleteIt was all so awkward and staged, particularly with the parents watching everything. I was also a little disappointed that Travis didn't make the sign himself. Did UPTV provide it?
ReplyDeleteAll of the courtings are "staged"... AKA planned. Parents are always there for it you're worried about a simple sign when the song was so beautiful.smh

So cute how Travis s family
Sings.
It didn't seem as special as the other Bates courtships from the past, but, perhaps it's because Travis is super young. Just a kid really. At any rate, Katie needs to grow up and stop throwing food on him. It makes her seem really immature and nervous. It's just not a good quality.
ReplyDeleteI thought some of the other courtship requests were over the top and more like engagements. This was more appropriate for their stage. It was still very special but shouldn't overstage any actual engagement proposal. It was very nice and the song was so thoughtful.
Deletegrace grace Gods grace thats what's needed for them.
DeleteI would like to know why season 9 is not yet available
ReplyDeleteOn the Uptv app? I’m paying for the app and can’t even see the new episodes 😡
I think it is because of COVID, and they are not taping.
DeleteI am new to the show. I am watching reruns and the new ones trying to catch up. Great family in a world so full of brokenness, they have so much love❤
ReplyDeleteBeauticul family & beautiful music to our God. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where the habit of "smashing" food into people's faces got started, but I wish it would stop. Travis was in a nice suit for the occasion and Katie "smashed" ice cream on his face and some of it dropped on his suit. I hope she offered to pay for the dry cleaning. I think this habit is nothing short of rude and disrespectful. And, it's just not this; brides in dresses that often cost thousands and grooms, probably in rented tuxes. I know, I'm an "old lady", but I was "fetched up" to believe in manners. Oh, for the good old days!
ReplyDeleteIs it just me? Or do the Bates ladies seem to have a specific type. I mean, you could pretty much put all of their husbands in a line up, and have a hard time picking out who was who. They're features are very similar. farLol.As I'd be very cautious approaching my hubby, from behind, at a family gathering. As for the Duggar ladies, Ben and Austin are of the similar type. But Jeremy and Derrick have distinct individual features. Jmho.
ReplyDeleteHis voice is beautiful. If he wanted to he could be a successful country singer. That video on Youtube. His voice is great, and the words are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteHe’s from Jersey so no very country 🤣 But he is a successful Christian singer. I’ve been listening to him since he was probably 8-9.
DeleteThat young man needs to run. Fast.
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone thinks these folks needs you trying to be helpful not. I am married for 30 years happily and I married at 18. I actually had my wedding 1 week before I graduated from high school.
ReplyDeleteGlad it worked out- you beat the odds! It doesn’t take away from the fact that the human brain is still maturing at that age and has a few more years to go after that. True live can be patient and be given time to grow up.
DeleteWho ever said puppy love above is right. But we all know the answer they will be married and have a baby within the next 2 yrs.
ReplyDeleteI wish people would not be so critical of this wonderful family they have morals and put God first before anything I wish more people were like them love them they let me know there is still Godly people in the world
ReplyDeleteWow! The Clarks are amazing! Hope we can hear more of them.
ReplyDeleteThey are too young. And honestly not everything needs to be this "special". How many people do all of this to ask to be a girlfriend. What is he going to do for an actual proposal? so staged and awkward.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or do they look like they could be siblings?? They look alike!!
