The Bates are having a big bash in Breckenridge! Gil and Kelly Bates and the majority of their 19 children--plus in-laws, spouses, and non-married some significant others--met up for a family vacation in Colorado this week. They are spending time skiing down the slopes and enjoying the snow at Keystone Resort and Breckenridge.

DeleteI’m sure the Bates are aware of the many blessings Up tv has afforded them....and Up tv is aware of the many blessings the Bates have brought their way. Either way I look at it, I think their audience is the most blest, especially in the days we are living through!

DeleteWonder how they're coping with Breckenridge's Mandatory Mask Area? There are also rules about dining indoors with occupants of more than 2 households at one table. That size group would easily overwhelm a restaurant with limited capacity. Also, you can't have lodging with people from more than 2 households in the same unit, or more than 10 people in any unit. What you described there sounds like a very large group from many different households.

DeleteIt’s possible, even likely, that UP rented out a whole lodge and/or restaurants for them. I highly doubt that they were lumped in with the general public anywhere that they went.

Deleteyes 313pm They are rules everywhere and rules have to be followed for everyone, it’s really common sense. I work in a hospital near Knoxville and I have gotten both covid vaccines. Praise the LORD. Please stay safe, put your mask on and stay 6 feet apart! And pray COVID ENDS SOON Seems like the numbers are going down PRAISE the LORD. ReplyDeleteI just saw their first episode again. I miss the early Bates shows. Money sure has changed them. Maybe not their convictions but their appearance and the content of their episodes. Now they are all highlighted hair and fancy clothes. Part of the appeal of the show was how quaint they were. Remember the days when $100 was a lot for a baby shower present for Whitney and Zach? Now every episode involves a scene at a restaurant or a family trip. It used to be peeling potatoes for the family dinner, kids running around the yard and tree jobs. The show has become too staged. I'm sure UP has funded this trip for production purposes and we will watch them all skiing in an an episode in a few months.

DeleteOh wow,how nice. I live here in Colorado and have heard Breckinridge is beautiful this time of year. With a family that size,they probably rented a huge lodge house for the week or multiple family cabins. Glad they got to go. Reminds me of the trip that the Duggar family made in 2010 to Colorado for a ski trip. I don't remember much about it except that is was the rare time the girls wore pants and Michelle didn't come until later because Josie was still too little and vulnerable to sickness since she was just a preemie baby to travel,so a friend stayed back in Arkansas with her. Anyone remember that trip from 19 Kids and Counting? Hope footage of the Bates family trip will be included in Season 10 of Bringing UP Bates this year. Probably will see some footage early on some of the blogs that Carlin and Erin have. I'm thinking that the Webster family probably didn't go since Alyssa is due soon with Maci Jo to risk travel,especially since you can't travel 2-3 weeks before giving birth due to COVID19 restrictions and hospital policies about travel during that period. ReplyDeleteThe Bates have changed so much. Those kids don't follow what those parents have taught them. Watching them anymore is just like watching the rest of us. Not inspiring and certainly not the same values the show was built upon.

DeleteThe whole "point" of the show was to demonstrate how, as a Christian family, they avoid many secular activities and still make it work. They were "unique" to society at one point, but now they are not much different than the rest of us. Growing up Gil and Kelly taught them no front hugs, no dancing, minimal makeup and virgin hair (no coloring), a very modest low-key life. Plus so much more. The show is pointless, in my opinion, because it's lost its focus.
Delete2:11 I think the point of the show had more to do with the fact that they had so many kids, which is unusual. They were and remain nothing more than a curiosity to many people. That’s what TV focuses on to attract viewers...the out of the ordinary. If they’d been a family of four, no one would’ve given them the time of day.

ReplyDeleteTo 11:23 above...what about they way they always help each other in the family and others with the skills and talents God gave them. Such as in plumbing, teaching kids, electrical work, hair care, renovating, decorating, nursing care, babysitting, lawn care and trees, flying family members around, making meals for sick family members, building a basketball court for the family, teaching younger siblings to sew, doing all kinds of things as a family....I’m sure I left things out, They inspire me a lot!

ReplyDeleteThey love the Lord and they are human beings like the rest of allowed to live life and have fun. They choose to do or not do things. How they do or don't do their hair or do or don't take trips is all their business. They are a blessing to many people. They show God's love in all they do. Remember they are normal people they choose to share their lives with us how they live them is up to God and them not you or me. Thank you Bates and Duggers for sharing and being uplifting.
