  4. They're not getting married too soon after engagement, and they didn't rush into engagement after courtship either, even though they are older one would expect they would be in a rush like John and Abbie did, but than again John and Abbie weren't allowed to kiss, Nathan and Esther made it obvious in the engagement video that they do.

    1. Why do people get so defensive when a question is asked or a comment made? Asking if they will get married in her hometown was just that, a question.

  9. Oh, I'm so excited for them. Looking forward to seeing their colors, decorations and venue for their Fall wedding. And I too am looking forward to seeing Katie and Travis's colors, decorations and wintery outdoor farm wedding for their early Christmas wedding (although I'm still disappointed it's not on Christmas Day like I thought when they first announced their wedding was in December). Can't believe come the end of 2021 that the Bates will only have 6 kids left at home (7 really until Lawson proposes and marries Tiffany, which will probably be next Spring 2022) and the family will only have 1 of their kids eligible and old enough to court and marry (Trace) left until Addelynn turns 18 and is old enough to court in a few short years. 11. It is customary, if having a church wedding, that the couple marry in the church of the bride and her family. Where is Esther from?

    1. Although it’s becoming more customary to be a couple’s choice, it has been customary for the wedding to be where the bride is living. It used to be, and still often is, that the bride’s parents hosted the wedding and paid for it. It seemed easier to have the wedding close to where the bride lives. This custom has been changing in some ways. For example, people who marry older share the expense, and couples choose where to have the wedding.

    2. 6:08 Both our children were married in their mid-twenties; we have both a son and a daughter. We gave them each equal amounts of money for a wedding. Along with whatever the other parents gave them and their own financial resources, they decided how to spend it. We are not independently wealthy people, so an extravagant wingding was not within our budget for either child- not even close! I think brides' parents footing the entire bill is the exception, rather than the norm these days.
