Erin is a lovely person and a great mother. However, I thought one's relationship with God was a private thing. Why is she monetizing it?
ReplyDeleteI think she is just trying to inspire and encourage others. She certainly never seems motivated by money to me. Of course, I don't know her personally, but she has always appeared to be genuinely kind and sweet.
DeleteActually, the Bible says much about sharing your faith with others, especially in the New Testament.
DeleteHow we decide to share or not share our different beliefs and faith is the personal aspect.
DeletePlease be kind, as she is sharing how she believes appropriate and if asked by a media outlet and paid for her time, doesn’t negate her beliefs. At least she is using this platform to share her all, or part of a testimony.
Why are you asking if she's monetizing it? Where's the money?
DeleteHow wonderful to hear Erin's encouragement! She is a delight to all who know her. To answer Anon's question, she makes money through instagram and youtube, this is why she shares so much about her relationship with God with us. Instead of being a personal and private thing, it is used as a way to make money.
DeleteEvangelicals believe they are called to save souls. Many of them do make money in the process, even through YouTube. You are free to listen or not. Personally, I feel one's spirituality is an individual matter and no one else's job to influence, unless they are asked.
DeleteI agree with you, Anon. Why try to influence others and what they believe? Why would Erin do that?
DeleteShe is very active on social media and has a webshop. So it's not just personal.
DeleteI'm very happy for Erin. She's always been very strong in her faith, and I feel it has only strengthened with this miracle pregnancy. Carson's story that an angel told him his mama would be having a fifth baby gave me goosebumps, and for Erin, it was a clear message from the Lord. I can understand her faithfulness.

DeleteThe Paines are having a sweet baby girl. I guess the angel that spoke to Carson was wrong? Is it possible Carson misunderstood the angel?
DeleteQuite possibly Carson had a dream that seemed quite vivid and real to him. That's not uncommon. No one can know if it was a message from God, even though it gives comfort to think so.
DeleteOP here. Just the fact, as I said, that Erin is pregnant is a miracle. With only one-third of one ovary, after having three surgeries to control bleeding and having almost all of her two ovaries removed, it is a gift from God that she is expecting again.

How could it be a message from God, Anon? Since she is having a girl, not a boy, it is unlikely to have been a message from God.
Delete11:15 Isn't every child a gift from God? BTW, all it takes is one egg to be fertilized. Obviously that 1/3 of an ovary was functioning. She may have even been taking fertility drugs for all we know.
DeleteI don't think that a child (like Carson here) should be wrapped up in his parents' fertility. Let this child be a kid and enjoy his life while he is still a child. I don't think it's a healthy involvement at all. These people are strange. I don't mean that in a mean way but they attended those Journey to the Heart indoctrinations and ALERT indoctrinations...which in themselves are strange.

DeleteIt is exceedingly common for little children, no matter their family’s belief system, to desire a new sibling. Kids ask for a brother or sister from Santa, in prayer, as a birthday present, etc. I always wanted my mom to have more kids and wished for it constantly even though I had one I adored and knew my mom would never have more. Many kids want more siblings regardless of how many they have. Totally normal.

DeleteIt's strange to you because perhaps you've never experienced knowing something that wasn't known to others around you. It's a gift from God to be told something special is about to happen for a family. I hope one day you can experience something like that too.
DeleteIf it was on his heart, then it was on his heart. Part of letting a kid be a kid be a kid is letting him think and dream and pray about whatever is important to him.
Delete@9:24 As a child, I remember having a vivid dream where my mother was expecting another baby. It wasn't surprising, because I had been preoccupied and praying she would have a little sister for me. Shortly after that, we found out she was pregnant with my sister. Was it God or and angel communicating with me beforehand? No one can know that. It may have just been a dream. I suspect that the Paine family had been talking a lot about having more children and asking the kids how they felt about it. The power of suggestion can be very strong. It wouldn't be surprising if Carson had a dream about it.

DeleteI hope the people who publicly claim to have a close relationship with God are being good people behind closed doors - which means self sacrificing and putting others needs first. Practice what you preach.
