If its a choice between new years day and Christmas day than I choose new years day
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteToday is my brother’s birthday also.
it would be an interesting birthday. hope he has a good one
ReplyDeleteMy niece was born on new years day and yes she enjoys it because there are lots of family friends coming over to their house to visit during the holidays so she can have a big party, even if it's usually not planned, she's in her late teens now.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday Gil!
ReplyDeleteGil is such a wonderful husband and father! And grandfather, too! However, I don't think I could live with someone who is so parsimonious.
ReplyDeleteA man with 19 children to support is better off being careful with money than not.
Delete10:55AM: What makes you think Gil is stingy? They have a pretty good life, and they've provided well for their children, many with college educations. They've had music lessons, braces for their teeth, nice holidays, good food. Good grief, what a terrible thing for you to say.
DeleteThe kids pay for their own college educations (except for the first semester). Kelly says so on the show.
DeleteGil once said he used the ER for medical care because they had to treat you even if you couldn't pay! That's too stingy for me.
DeleteHappy Birthday,Gil! He's a great dad. Regarding college, however, the kids must pay for it themselves. Understandable with 19 kids, but it's not something he provided as a dad.

DeleteSorry to hear that he is watching over you. Happy New Year.
Happy Birthday Mr. Bates, thank you for your Godly example. I enjoy listening your
ReplyDeletesermons online. Blessings.
Actually yes I can imagine having a Birthday on Jan 1st. Funny story, Gil and I are the exact same age except I may be a few hours older then him.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of Gil and Kely couples-ballroom style dancing is hypocritical. He states now that dancing can be done tastefully. Didn't he know that before?
ReplyDeleteChanging your mind about something and explaining why you changed is not hypocritical.
DeleteI think they have reevaluated the rules from time to time, which I think is wise. It must have been overwhelming to try to keep their huge family in line when they were younger, and I know that being a parent can be stressful. What they once thought was necessary or a good decision, might not feel that way anymore. I think they know that they need to trust their kids, and hope the values they instilled will hold. Maybe they watched Footloose lol.
DeleteNo, it's not hypocritical. Hypocritical is if you're doing it while telling others it's wrong. He changed his mind and then did it. That's called changing your mind.
DeleteIt's seems since the boys are starting to court, a lot of things are ok that weren't ok when the girls were courting. It's a double standard.
Delete6:46, the dancing was for one of the girls' weddings.
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY GIL Happiness and Blessings.

Neddy, Isnt your Dad the best Dad? (and your Grandfather the best?) I know mine were.
ReplyDeleteGil's using the ER for medical care for his family is unscrupulous. All of us who pay for medical insurance ourselves have paid for his family's care. IMO that is selfish and manipulating the system. Not very Christian-like if you ask me. He should have been ashamed of himself for that. Using other people like that.
