Carlin Stewart has been experiencing health issues, and we encourage you to pray for her. Since flying back from Lawson's wedding, she has been in Nashville, where Evan's family has been helping with the kids. Carlin has had numerous episodes of fainting and seizure-like symptoms that have landed her in the emergency room. She has not received a diagnosis yet.

DeleteI hope they will do a title table test for POTS . This is one thing I don’t believe they have done. Since it started during labor after her epidural, they should also check for tests to see if the epidural caused them. It’s very curious that this began during labor. If she never had these fainting spells before that, it really seems like it could be related to that somehow.

ReplyDeleteI had very similar symptoms for most of my life. At 23 I finally had a tilt-test and found out I needed a pacemaker. They never figured out why my pulse “dumped” but it does on and off and the pacemaker has changed my entire life. I no longer worry about fainting. Prayers you get it figured out. I’ve been there and it would’ve been a much bigger pickle with kids. Get that tilt-test!

ReplyDeleteI watched the video yesterday and when the part about Carlin being taken away in an ambulance while at her nephews' baseball game and Evan said she had a possible seizure,I started crying for her and Evan.😭
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to them.❤️ Praying they can get a diagnosis soon because this is not normal symptoms for someone 2 months postpartum. I know the dr.'s have done every test possible,but I do wonder if it's cardiac related. Wish Carlin could stay in the hospital for observation so when her symptoms occur,the dr's and nurses could see what happens and give a clear diagnosis. She can keep Zade with her to nurse and Layla could stay with her grandparents,aunt's,uncle's and cousins and Evan take family time off work.

ReplyDeleteDoctors are smarter than me but, I need to put my two cents in. My son experienced fainting spells some years ago. He went to hi PCP, then to a Cardiologist then to a Neurologist, etc. The doctors could not find out what was wrong. Finally, while doing another Ultra Sound on his heart, they had their answer. Just at the right time, a flap opened up in his heart exposing a hole. If that flap had not opened at that time, who know how long it would have been before they found out what it was. Prayers!
ReplyDeleteI believe that Carlin could be suffering from panic or anxiety attacks. This woman lives on the go..she just had baby #2 and hasn't taken the 6 weeks "off" that women need to recover. Husband graduating, new job, boutique stuff, new house...all too much at one time.

DeleteYes, after the birth of my 2nd, my anxiety was sky high and I swore my husband was going to come home and find me dead on the floor. Your body can do terrible things when going through it.
DeleteYes, Anon 5/25 @ 6:02am...the same happened to me after the birth of my 2nd child also. I was 34 and suddenly I felt like passing out; light headed; heart palpitations, etc. Carlin should consider this and slow down her YouTube/phone life. I hope you are fine now.

ReplyDeleteCarlin please ask about Atrial Fibrillation & Postpartum Cardiomyopathy with congestive heart failure)....what was your Ejection Fraction. The monitor Mr you wore will have these results. I had it happen to me in 1994. It is rare but your symptoms match very well for Postpartum with CHF. I'll be praying but please ask. If you have any t, I'll be happy to help.

Carlin did have a epidural when she was around 6 or 7 cm dilated.

ReplyDeleteJust a thought to bring up to the doctors. Show them the video footage from the delivery room where she passed out multiple times and was shaking. Could this be lingering effects from the epidural? Could something have been triggered due to that or possibly something with spine disturbed or hit when inserting epidural.

DeleteI have pots it's control with midodrine and fludrocortisone get tilt table test try not to bend over that's what happens when you faint. Don't worry u got this it's scary > know lots of hugs and God bless u all

Hasn‘t Carlin been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome? This is associated with different neurologic manifestations such as epilepsy. As an MD I find her symptoms rather worrying and hope that Carlin has been treated by experts for her underlying condition.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard that Carlin was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. I did hear that she maybe had MTHFR syndrome, blood clotting problems because of pregnancy, not because of an autoimmune condition. But, I too, wonder if what she's going through now has anything to do with her condition. Or if it is connected to a drop in blood pressure, or a neck issue, or something with her heart. I hope it'll be something simple, she can take medication that will keep it in check, or it will just go away.

ReplyDeleteCarlin U are my 3nd fave Bates OK, 1Kelly 2Erin 3U, 3Zach 5Tori, so it hurts me to see U like this!!! I get these terrible monthlies, at that time, I was a veggie for 14.5 years, so 1 monthlies, I fainted, on my way to work, in the street of Vancouver BC Canada, then I woke up in the hospital!!!!! So, the Doctors told me to get this pill called Slow-feed-iron pills, U eat red meat, so just for this little bit eat mass amounts, red meat is the best iron, hey get a cast iron pan too, cook the stake in the cast iron pan!!!! I only eat chicken, and fish now, and my cast iron pan, has helped me there to!!!! I still have bad monthlies, but I know how to help me, now!!!!! Stew Crew + 3!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy friends doctor told her not to eat red meat it's bad for your heart.. She been having faint spells like Carlin. Her doctor put her in nursing home for a while to get it under control and kept and I on her. She has too small kids at home. She always can't drive anymore

If I found them in a snowy field I'd phone 911( Steven King, 'Misery', lol)!!!! I don't have any merchandise of any kind, the only thing I ever wanted was a 19, Kids and Counting, big white mug, it was the 10th year of me watching that show, and by the time I went to order it, they stop making them, sometimes I miss the mark!!!! That is the only thing I wanted!!!! It is these 2 families, helped me, through an adjustment, and they showed me, U have to think of your family as a team!!!! Then I taught that to my family, and we became a team!!! Which saved my family, OK!!! I am grateful to these 2 families, OK!!!! I LOVE THEM, AND DO ANYTHING FOR THEM!!!!

ReplyDeleteI have a 21,19, and 16 year old-after the birth of my third my balance and everything was extremely off from the moment we drove home from the hospital.I went through a battery of test and i ended up being diagnosed with migraine disorder. I’ll forever believe it had something to do with epidural. Only the Lord knows. Migraines are mini seizin the brain. The only other explanation is hormones. Maybe she could have hormones tested. Also that’s when my thyroid acted up and caused tachycardia (the thyroid can trigger major things to go wrong with us ladies) which I’m on atenolol for.

Reading through these comments about all the risks and serious consequences that can come from pregnancy and childbirth, and I know there are many more, it's a wonder any woman would put their body through it. Ladies also end up bearing most of the burden of birth control. The whole process is out of whack!

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who is dumbstruck with the Bates family's absence in all of this? Evan's family has been 100 % supportive through this. There is no reason Evan should have to not work when Michaela could stay with Carlin on a rotation each day with Mrs. Bates. Michaela is a nurse and has no children to tie her down. Mrs. Bates has tutors and older children to hold the fort down while she stays (even over night so Evan could get rest before going to work). This just seems out of character for the Bates. I also know some Bates have had paramedic training - so why are they not pitching in? Very inconsistent with their usual pattern of family support.

I see they have a new YouTube up-I have not watched it but it looks like Carlin is in it; there’s demo going on and Evan is golfing. Does this mean Carlin feels better?
ReplyDeleteTheir videos are quite far behind real-time. According to their latest one, a doctor has determined that she has a seizure disorder of some kind, but they have to run more tests to determine the cause. She's on medication, but Evan has had to take FMLA from his job in order to stay with Carlin- she can't be left alone right now due to her passing out.
