A Room For Four Paine Girls

Now that Erin and Chad Paine are living in Florida, they have a house that is significantly larger than the two-bedroom cabin that they left in Tennessee. That being said, having five children still requires a level of creativity in organizing and allocating space. Erin and Chad recently put their building and decorating skills together to renovate the 12x12 room where all four girls will sleep, which included building a triple bunk bed (YouTube link below).

  2. WOW! TRIPLE bunk beds! Stay safe, Little Ones.

  3. Where will the youngest sleep when she outgrows the trundle bed? I don't understand why Chad and Erin always take the largest bedroom for themselves.

    1. I wondered about that too. Didn't seem like any room in there for a 4th bed.

    2. In the video, Erin mentioned that she and Chad would likely switch rooms with the girls when the girls get older.

    3. Why not do it right away? I’d never take the largest room while my kids were cramped together

    4. 9:10, adults need more room than small children.

  4. I would not want to be the one who has to put sheets on those stacked beds. What if one girl gets sick in the middle of the night or wets the bed? Seems it would be impossible to clean up without climbing on top of everyone else and making a ruckus. This does not seem like a very practical arrangement. I think these people have been watching too much HGTV.

    1. I'm with you up until the HGTV crack. Triple bunk beds seem like a good idea if you are trying to fit kids into a smaller space, but the practicality of bedmaking will be a real challenge. I doubt Erin has a lot of time to sit around watching tv, though.

    2. HGTV is influencing too many people. Look at any house for sale that's been bought, remodeled, and immediately flipped for sale again. It's all HGTV gray and white, with white "farmhouse" kitchens, white subway tiles, gray floors, and barn doors. Total Gaines/HGTV style. Every time I surf past that channel, they're doing that same decor. Then everyone copies it, including other really impractical ideas. The worst is the "words words words" decor, full of those tacky calligraphic word signs sold at any Hobby Lobby. You don't have to watch TV to see it. Look at any Pinterest page or any house for sale on Realtor.

    3. Anon 1:53. Gray walls are very "trendy" right now so people are doing that. I can't imagine why though. Gray is such a depressing color and it's sort of like a dreary rainy day inside your house. No doubt the trends will change and people will wonder why they did that.

    4. @10:04 Thank you - I thought I was the only one tired of dreary gray everywhere. Two neighbors painted their houses gray, one so dark that I feel I'm looking at an oncoming tornado all the time. Someday all this gray is going to be as outdated as the 80's peach, dusty rose, and Williamsburg blue. Or the 70's gold, rust, and avocado green. And I can't wait for that day!

    5. Those HGTV remodel shows are ridiculous. They do nothing but cut corners and shoddily install things for show. I wouldn't follow a single one of their ideas. Their house hunting shows are not as advertised. The couples have bought and closed on the house before they ever begin filming, some of the houses they tour aren't actually for sale, and there are other deceptions done for TV. Use your heads people. Your home is where you have to safely live, not a showcase of some TV producer's ratings ideas.

  5. They have to cram all of the girls into a small room? I thought the house was larger than their previous one.

    1. It seems very cramped to me but guess it's the best they can do for now. That bunk bed must be a pain to put clean sheets on.

  6. So glad that Brooklyn,Everly,Holland, and Finnly will share a room together and Carson will have his own room at long last. Was always worried about Carson sharing a room with his sisters as they all got older and started puberty since boys and girls need their privacy. It's a blessing God called them to move to Florida where they have a bigger house to live in.

  7. We seem to have the same taste in decor ideas. I loved the idea of using books throughout the house as I do the same. I was excited to see her edition of Anne of Green Gables because I have the same one.

    1. I don't like her idea of putting books on the shelves backwards as they are obviously just there for show, not for reading. Also, is that "Wealth and Worth" on the shelf? A very adult book...

  8. The room is lovely but I’m not fond of a triple bunk! Lots of work to climb and change those linens.

  9. I hope the Paine's are going to attend the Blueberry Festival in Brooksville, Florida this weekend. We've attended several times. It's a Family Friendly event! DELICIOUS blueberries and Lots of FUN!

  10. They seem to need at least a 4 bedroom house. It's about time Carson gets his own room...

  11. The way they told the girls not to touch those pins holding the bed up made me worry. Kids will be curious kids. I would have put a better locking mechanism on that, or at least put some sort of shock-absorbing supports on it like storm doors have to make them close slowly. That heavy bed could drop down quickly on a child as it's being converted from wall to floor. Reminds me of a dangerous toy box lid.

    2. I agree with all the concerns about the bunks!!! In addition, what about as the girls grow; it doesn’t look like enough headroom to sit up! Not their best idea or design!!!

    3. "Only Daddy can do the special trick!" Yes, until little fingers and little curious minds who also want to do a "trick" find out what's holding up that bed...

  12. Erin doesn't seem to take the girls' interests in consideration when she decorates. It's all about looks. It would be better to ask the kids their preferences.

    1. 3:59 I noticed that too. Kids don't want plants and wire sculptures and books they can't read. She's back to her pink bedroom style again. Remember the master bedroom in her first house?

    2. A kids bedroom should be about the kids, not what the mom thinks is stylish

  13. The room looks beautiful but it should be about the girls not the mother, Erin. It's sad how Erin has to be in the control with decision for the girls' bedroom. Can't the girls be kids?? Erin didn't let Carson to be a kid when it came to decorating the bedroom for Carson. It's very sad. :(

    1. Agreed. Carson’s room does not look like a boy’s room

  14. How do those girls not conk their heads all the time in the bunks? Or get claustrophobic. There's not enough space! Bunk beds are dangerous. Some were just recalled.
