4 New Bates Babies

Throwback: Gil and Kelly Bates and their first five grandchildren, 2016

Bates family reunions are about to get even more hectic, with a wave of four new Bates babies set to arrive in the coming months. Zach and Whitney Bates are due with #5 any day, Trace and Lydia Bates are expecting Ryker Bates next month, and Erin and Chad Paine are having #6 near the end of the year, likely in November although their due date is December. And a fourth couple just announced that they are pregnant, too. Any guesses?

Josie and Kelton Balka are expecting their third child in March 2024! This will put Gil and Kelly Bates' grandchild count at 28. The picture below is a throwback from 2016, when the Bates had "only" five grandchildren. At this point, a photo with all of them would be quite a difficult task.

  1. Who didn't see that one coming? I'm sure there will be many more grandkids in the next year.

  5. I’m guessing that Tori is also pregnant, but just has not announced it. She usually waits pretty late in her pregnancy to announce. If she’s not pregnant, that would be very shocking, since she’s always had the next baby a few months after her baby turns one. I’m sad that Lawson and Tiffany seem to be having trouble getting pregnant. I’m guessing that Esther, Carlin, Katie, and Emerson are likely to get pregnant sometime next year.

    1. Carlin is not healthy enough to have another baby right now. They have said in their videos they aren’t sure if they will be able to have more than the 2 they already have.

    2. I hope she listens to her doctor and does not try for more at this time. Her sisters may have gone ahead with more after medical issues but Carlin’s health issues could potentially be more serious.

    3. I don't care for carlyn and her husband. Can't watch all their blogs. They're too into themselves and bore the world with constantly throwing their bratty daughter in front of the camera!

    4. If you don't like one of them, please keep your comments to your self. I love this entire family. I live Carlin, Evan and the rest of them.

  6. They will need to use a drone to get pictures of the whole family, once those new babies arrive.

  8. I'm like stunned. Josie?! I thought Lydia just told us she got Josie's rocking chair becasue she wouldn't need it anymore and was turning the baby room into a toddler play room for Willow and Hazel. That tells me this baby is a surprise. Was she having infertility problems?

    1. No, Josie has a blood clotting issue as well as I believe somewhat complicated pregnancies. She had one loss for sure. Also Hazel was in the NICU for a week or more due to some unique health issues which might well be a concern for future babies, so yes, I was a little surprised about this pregnancy announcement as well, but definitely happy for them and praying 🙏 all goes well

  10. Congratulations Josie and Kelton! Didn't think they would have anymore kids because of Hazel's birth being so traumatic the last time having to go to the NICU for severe jaundice.

    2. Severe jaundice isn't something that's genetic, is it?

  13. I love the Bates family, but wonder why some of them don't adopt with so many precious children in Foster Care.
