Update from Katie and Travis

It's been a little while since we've heard how everything is going for Katie and Travis Clark. They recently vacationed in Aruba with Travis' family, and after returning home, they posted a life update video. Katie has had a kidney stone for several months and is hoping to have it removed next month, Travis has music announcements coming soon, and Remi's puppies are growing up. For more on each of these subjects, as well as an update on little Hailey, check out the Clarks' YouTube video (link below).

  1. Oh my goodness kidney stones are horribly painful! That poor thing. She will be in my prayers.

    1. Not always. They can be small and pass in minutes with almost no symptoms. You can pass them without ever knowing it too. I've had dozens that I know of and probably more that I didn't know. My doctors have been unable to stop them. I became immune to an anti-stone drug and diet changes made no difference. I make stones no matter what. It's idiopathic and genetic. It's not an unbearable condition. Some were a little memorable but I've never had to take anything stronger than Advil for them, even for the bigger ones. I'm the Michelle Duggar or Kelly Bates of birthing kidney stones.

    2. 9:39 You're lucky. My mother had kidney stones that were excruciating and she eventually needed to have a stent put in, which was no picnic, either. She ended up going septic and spent a long time in the hospital. Now my son-in-law has them and it's no joke.

    3. Stones run the entire spectrum from terrible to piece of cake, and everything in between. Everyone has a story that's true.

  2. Watched the video and it was good to hear how life is going for them. They are so sweet and I like how they put more of the focus on family and God than on the world. Hoping Katie can get this kidney stone issue addressed. It's very unusual to hear a young first time mom getting a kidney stone. Love Remi's second litter of puppies.😍 Maybe another Bates sibling will get one again like Alyssa and John have Mia from her first litter.

    1. This world doesn't need any more puppies or kittens. Our animal shelters are overflowing with dogs and cats. If you want a pet, go to an animal shelter. We have adopted many wonderful puppies and dogs over the years. "Have your pet spayed or neutered", Bob Barker.

    2. @6:00 Unfortunately, the people who allow animals to breed unchecked like that (the animals that end up in shelters) are not good pet owners. No neutering, no shots, no medical history, no DNA tests for genetic diseases, nothing. They don't even keep their pets indoors. Personalities and behaviors of the animals are "whatever." I'd rather buy an animal from a reputable breeder who has invested the time and money in properly taking care of their animals before allowing them to reproduce, and then hand-raising and socializing the litters. My veterinarian friend volunteers at a shelter and has told me stories of problem animals he's seen there, animals that have been returned for bad behavior that will not change. I have 2 friends who breed purebred cats and it's a money-losing business when it's done right, with all the medical care you have to put into the parents and the kittens before allowing them to be sold to new owners. I always neuter, I keep my cats inside, and they get state-of-the-art medical tests and care at a university animal hospital. Does the Bates family do the same or are they breeding "for fun"?

    3. We've always gotten wonderful pets at animal shelters. Our daughter adopted a beautiful chocolate lab from a shelter and after DNA testing, found out it was a purebred. We only bought one dog from a breeder but shelter dogs are wonderful too. No reason to bring more dogs and cats into the world. All of our pets were spayed. None of our dogs had puppies.

    4. @ 11:43...A dog is a dog and a cat is a cat

    5. My friend had to take a cat back to the shelter because it didn't seem to understand what a litter box was for, and was making the whole house and everything in it a box. It had been found as a stray, so it started out feral. Not good.

    6. @5:34 And pets are pets. Animals are animals. All should be treated well.

    7. I hope your friend didn't give up on getting another shelter animal. There are lots of fine animals to choose from.

    8. 1:07 My daughter adopted a cat from a shelter, and he was also considered feral. With time, patience, and the right training, this cat has become a very devoted and loving pet. He also learned to use a littler box just fine. You can't start out by letting the cat have free run of the entire house. You confine him to a small area, like a laundry room, until he gets the hang of using the litter.

    1. It's their vlogs and sponsors on YouTube, actually...$$$

  4. With recent troubling developments regarding certain "family" YouTube channels, I think it wise for any parents to reconsider their decision to post public videos about their minor children for all the world to see. Kids can't consent to this and it invades their privacy... forever. Even if it helps grow the bank account, it's just plain wrong, IMO, and not in their best interests at all.

    1. I agree. Plus its only a matter of time before family vlogging is either demonetised by Youtube or governments adopt the French sharenting laws

  5. I really enjoy watching this couple. They’re really sweet and real and down-to-earth, IMO.

  6. I’ve been watching through all the episodes of Bringing Up Bates, through Tubi. They’re free, you have to watch some ads in between, but they’re few and far between. You can hook Tubi through your Apple ID or gmail accounts to save playbacks of episodes. Just wanted to share in case anybody is interested.

  7. She will want to get that kidney stone addressed. I had one get infected and it put me in the hospital. Please get it taken care of, the sooner the better!

  8. They are going to breed that poor dog like Kelly Bates and Michelle Duggar were. I hope they don't think this is a "joke" or "fun" to have litter after litter. Give that poor sweet dog a break and stop this now. Yes, too many dogs & kitties in animal shelters who are already here and need a good home.

    1. Agreed. Poor Remi!

    2. The best breeders limit the litter to one a year, and maybe 4 tops over the lifetime of the dog.

    3. I agree with you, 12:35 PM.

    4. I agree with you Anonymous September 10 @12:38 pm. They are going to be like a puppy mill breeder. Shame on them. We have many in Ohio

    5. I think they said they plan to stop after this litter and retire Remi from having anymore puppies and spay her. Although it's surprising Carlin and Evan haven't breeded their dog yet because she isn't fixed either.

  9. It's truly sad to see so many of the Bates resort to family vlogging. I don't think it's ever okay to expose your minor kids to the public in such a way that is sure to generate controversy, criticism, invasion of privacy, and outright exploitation. These vlogs also present a false representation of their lives. The Franke disaster should be a wake-up call.

    1. Bad advice, some places have minerals in the tap water that can make stones worse. Listen to your doctor, not the internet.
