We shared a YouTube video that Lawson and Tiffany Bates uploaded last week, called "Our Pregnancy Story Part 1." They just released part two. Very sadly, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.
We shared a YouTube video that Lawson and Tiffany Bates uploaded last week, called "Our Pregnancy Story Part 1." They just released part two. Very sadly, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.
Lawson and Tiffany Bates were married in May 2022. A while ago, they found out that Tiffany was pregnant and later that she had had a miscarriage. They weren't sure they wanted to share such an emotional event with the world, but they ultimately decided to. Yesterday, the couple uploaded a 30-minute video that shows them finding out the good news and ends with Tiffany in the emergency room. There will be another segment uploaded soon.

Now that Jackson is married, it seems appropriate for another Bates sibling to announce a relationship. Warden, who is next in the Bates family lineup, took care of that this week but sharing that he has a special someone. Her name is Taylor.
Erin and Chad Paine welcomed William Gage Paine on October 30th, 2023. He was born early, but after a short NICU stay, the Paines were able to bring him home to meet his five adoring older siblings. The proud parents filmed a 17-minute video showing their departure from the hospital and their arrival at home. They also uploaded a video of their newborn photo shoot. Their close friend, talented photographer Taryn Yager, flew from Knoxville to Florida just to take pictures for the Paines.

After struggling with kidney stones for months, Katie Clark was finally able to have surgery yesterday. According to Travis, the procedure went well, and Katie spent the night in the hospital for observation.
Spending Thanksgiving on Papa Bill and Mama Jane's farm in Honea Path, South Carolina, is a Bates family tradition. It's always an exciting time filled with lots of family togetherness and tasty food, and this year was no different. Trace and Lydia posted a video with footage.
William Gage Paine, who arrived October 30th, is eight days old. Due to his premature arrival, he spent time in the NICU but is now home, surrounded by his five adoring older siblings. Proud parents Erin and Chad Paine just posted a YouTube video in which they share their birth story with Baby #6.
Yesterday we shared the news of Erin’s delivery of little William Gage Paine, and we know you must be eager to hear how the Paines are doing. Although William is well, he will remain in the hospital for monitoring due to his premature birth. PEOPLE Magazine has a beautiful photo of the elated parents and their sweet bundle of joy.
The Paines are officially a family of eight! Erin and Chad Paine welcomed William Gage Paine on October 30th, 2023, at 5:49am, weighing 5 lbs 10 oz. He came about five weeks ahead of his December 6th due date, which is normal for Erin, who usually delivers between 35 and 36 weeks.
It has been one week since Jackson Bates married Emerson Wells. Now that the Bates are no longer on reality TV, family weddings won't be publicly featured in the way they once were. However, a few of the Bates siblings have posted YouTube videos that include footage from Jackson and Emerson's big day.
Katie and Travis Clark uploaded a video that shows their flight, trip to Disney World, and the wedding. The Websters' video includes preparations with various family members, as well as wedding footage. Trace and Lydia Bates' video features their road trip and shots from the wedding.
With Bringing Up Bates off the air, fans don't get the chance to watch interviews of the Bates as often as they used to. For that reason, we have a feeling you will enjoy this interview featuring Zach Bates. He sits down with Alec Lace from First Class Fatherhood to discuss being a dad. He talks about his career transition from being in law enforcement to running the Bates Sisters Boutique, his kids' involvement in sports, and a number of other topics.
The interview is available on YouTube, as well as on the First Class Fatherhood website.
And that’s a wrap! The 12th Bates wedding is officially in the books. Twenty-one-year-old Jackson Bates married Emerson Wells today at a venue near Orlando, Florida. PEOPLE Magazine has the first photos and details.
As the Bates are all making their way to Orlando for Jackson Bates’ wedding this weekend, another one of the siblings has shared a big announcement. Tori and Bobby Smith are expecting Baby No. 5! Tori, 27, and Bobby, 28, are the parents of four. Kade is almost five, Kolter is three, Charlotte is two, and Cambree is 14 months. This will be Gil and Kelly Bates’ 29th grandchild. Erin Paine is due in December, and Josie Balka is due in March.
The Bates are gearing up for their 12th wedding! This weekend, Gil and Kelly Bates will watch Jackson, their 12th oldest child, marry Emerson Wells in Orlando. It has been almost exactly one year since the last Bates sibling, Trace, said "I do." The family had two weddings in 2022, two in 2021, and none in 2020. They had one per year in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2015, and 2014, and they had two in 2013.
Jackson Bates and Emerson Wells announced their engagement in March.
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) just made a big announcement that affects the Bates greatly. Many of you know that Lydia (Romeike) Bates and her family had recently been told to prepare for deportation back to Germany. As they soak up the newborn days with baby Ryker, Trace and Lydia, as well as the entire Bates family, have been praying for good news.
More than one hundred thousand people signed the petition, and the government has taken notice. According to the HSLDA, on Wednesday, October 11th, ICE is expected to grant the Romeike family a one-year delay of deportation.
It's been a while since we've posted anything from Lawson and Tiffany, so here goes. While Tiffany is in California, Lawson visits Rocky Top and brings fans along on a visit to see the newest Bates grandchildren, Lily Jo Bates and Ryker Cruise Bates.
Lawson and Tiffany Bates: Meet the Newest Baby Bates (Video)
The Bates family continues to pray for a very imminent situation involving Lydia (Romeike) Bates and her family. As we recently shared, Lydia’s family has been suddenly ordered to prepare for deportation. Her parents, Uwe and Hannelore Romeike, have seven children. This deportation even includes their two married children, whose spouses are Americans. Thus, it would affect Trace, Lydia, Ryker, and the entire Bates family greatly. The Romeikes are Germans who have been living in the United States legally for 15 years.
Uwe was a guest on The Glenn Beck Program on September 28th. Those interested can listen on Apple Podcasts or on the Blaze Media website. The interview starts at 1:25. The petition referred to by Glenn Beck can be found on the HSLDA website.
It has been exactly two weeks since Ryker Cruise Bates' birth. In addition to adjusting to life with a newborn, Trace and Lydia have also been dealing with a very difficult and emotional situation, as Lydia and her family are facing possible deportation in the coming weeks. The new parents still took the time to post part one of their birth story.
With the Bates' reality TV involvement, Trace Bates is no stranger to the public eye, but some of our readers might not know that Lydia's family has also been featured in the news, and that started long before she and Trace were married.
The Romeikes are originally from Germany and have lived in the United States for 15 years. They moved to this country in search of asylum because they wanted the freedom to homeschool, and as a result have garnered attention from the media. Just before baby Ryker's arrival, the Romeike family went to a routine check-in at an immigration office and was told to return one month from that day for self-deportation. Even though Lydia is married to a U.S. citizen, she is also facing deportation. Lydia's parents, Uwe and Hannelore Romeike, have seven children. Five are adults, and two are under the age of 18.
We encourage you to pray for Trace, Lydia, and the Romeike family as they face this potentially life-changing situation. Trace uploaded a new YouTube video explaining the details (link below). You can also take a look at a 2014 ABC News article written about the Romeikes to learn even more about the family's case. According to the article, they were also facing possible deportation at that time but ended up having their deferred action status extended indefinitely.
Trace and Lydia Bates welcomed Ryker Cruise Bates at 11:54pm on September 12th, 2023. He weighed 6 lbs 8 oz.
UPDATE: Baby Ryker arrived on September 12th, and both he and Lydia are doing well.
Trace and Lydia Bates are about to become parents! Their first child, whom they have already named Ryker Cruise Bates, will soon make his arrival. Lydia's check-in for her induction is at 12am on Tuesday, September 12th. The expectant parents plan to have both their moms coming and going throughout the labor and to have Josie be the photographer for the actual delivery. They discuss their birth plan in their latest video.
It's been a little while since we've heard how everything is going for Katie and Travis Clark. They recently vacationed in Aruba with Travis' family, and after returning home, they posted a life update video. Katie has had a kidney stone for several months and is hoping to have it removed next month, Travis has music announcements coming soon, and Remi's puppies are growing up. For more on each of these subjects, as well as an update on little Hailey, check out the Clarks' YouTube video (link below).
Lydia Bates is approaching her due date with Ryker Bates. Baby boy is measuring small, but the doctor is concerned about possible placenta deterioration and has decided that the birth needs to take place on the early side. For that reason, Lydia will be induced at 38 weeks, on September 12th in the early morning. Expectant parents Trace and Lydia share the details in their most recent YouTube video (link below).
Lots of baby news for the Bates family! Whitney Bates just delivered Lily Jo Bates, Lydia Bates is nearing her due date with Ryker Cruise Bates, and Josie Balka recently announced that she is expecting #3.
Erin and Chad Paine also revealed news of their own. They have a name for their 6th child, a boy who is due in early December. Like older brother Carson (Charles Stephen Paine IV), this little boy will have a family name. Both Erin's dad and grandfather are William Gilvin, so she and Chad picked the name William Gage. The expectant parents discuss that and answer other questions in their most recent YouTube video (link below).
Erin and Chad: Q&A and Baby Name Reveal Video
There's always room for one more. Zach and Whitney Bates welcomed their fifth child and third daughter yesterday, August 15th. Lily Jo Bates weighed in at 6 lbs, 12 oz. This little girl shares a middle name with her grandmother Kelly, cousin Maci, and late great-grandmother Betty. Do you think this name will be used for any future Bates grandchildren? Lily's photo can be found on TV Shows Ace.
Update: Baby girl Bates arrived!
After our post yesterday about Josie Balka's pregnancy and the four Bates babies that will be joining the family between now and March 2024, something very exciting happened. Whitney Bates announced that her labor with Baby #5 had begun! News of the little girls' arrival should be coming soon.
Bates family reunions are about to get even more hectic, with a wave of four new Bates babies set to arrive in the coming months. Zach and Whitney Bates are due with #5 any day, Trace and Lydia Bates are expecting Ryker Bates next month, and Erin and Chad Paine are having #6 near the end of the year, likely in November although their due date is December. And a fourth couple just announced that they are pregnant, too. Any guesses?
Josie and Kelton Balka are expecting their third child in March 2024! This will put Gil and Kelly Bates' grandchild count at 28. The picture below is a throwback from 2016, when the Bates had "only" five grandchildren. At this point, a photo with all of them would be quite a difficult task.

The Bates couples seem to enjoy making videos addressing the assumptions about them that other people have. The latest one is from Trace and Lydia, who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ryker Cruise Bates next month. Their assumptions video is 23 minutes long and was just uploaded yesterday. The link is below, and we also included the links to past videos from other Bates couples.
Trace and Lydia Bates: Assumptions About Us
Katie and Travis Clark: Addressing Assumptions About Us
What does a typical day look like for a homeschooling mom of five young children? Erin Paine recently filmed a "day in the life" video that shows a typical schedule for her family. Erin is 22 weeks pregnant with baby No. 6. (If you missed the Paines' reveal video, the baby is a boy). While each day is a little different, Erin is pretty structured and says that keeping a schedule is very helpful for her.
Check out the YouTube video (link below) and then come back to the blog to share your thoughts on Erin's schedule. If you are a homeschooling mama, how does your routine compare?
What do you do when you have four daughters? You learn how to pamper them and make them feel loved. Chad set up an at-home salon for his girls, and sweet little Carson was eager to help. The video footage from this special day is sure to make you say, "aww!"
Spending 4th of July at Gil's family farm in South Carolina is a Bates family tradition. Even though many of the kids are busy with their own children and their adult lives, they still try to go back to the farm on the 4th. We have posted about the trip year after year because of how much coverage it has gotten from the Bates family and their show. A couple of the kids posted videos showing this year's festivities (links below).

This is an interesting watch, if you have a few minutes. Alyssa and John Webster respond to some of the assumptions that fans have about them and the way they live (video link below). Would they have 10 kids if morning sickness wasn't an issue? Do they argue in front of their kids? Do they make their three older daughters look after Maci? The Websters address those assumptions and more. If you enjoy the clip, Katie and Travis Clark filmed a similar video about assumptions last fall.
It's no secret that the Bates love the lake. Some of the family members recently met up for boating and swimming, and you can watch footage of their day on Carlin and Evan's YouTube channel (video link below).
The first half of the video details a big purchase that the Stewarts' recently made...a new car. They purchased a Tesla, which is Evan's dream car and also the same brand of vehicle that Katie and Travis Clark have. But for the Stewarts, this purchase wasn't all about fulfilling a dream. Carlin was told by her doctor that she is likely close to being cleared to drive again, and Teslas have fantastic auto pilot features, in case Carlin were to black out. Evan explains that this will give him piece of mind when Carlin is driving.
The Paines just announced the gender of Baby #6 on their YouTube channel. After being the only boy for eight years, sweet little Carson is finally getting a brother! Erin revealed the news to the family in a fun way while Granny Kelly was visiting Florida. She had known the gender for over a week, but Chad decided to find out alongside everyone else, and he was in complete shock.

Lawson just released a new music video. This one is extra special because it features the single "Vows, which he performed a shorter version of when he and Tiffany said "I do" on May 12th, 2022. Lawson co-wrote the song with Adam Wheeler.
The music video is a beautiful, artistic representation of the song, and, of course, includes Tiffany. Filming was quite the production (literally) because transporting a piano into the desert is no easy task. Links to the finished product and a behind the scenes video are below.
Lawson Bates--Vows--Official Music Video
Behind the Scenes with Lawson, Tiffany, and Crew
Most of you know that Carlin has had major health issues for the past year. On this journey, she has been to countless doctors appointments, endured dozens of tests, and even spent time in the hospital. She hasn't been able to drive, so she and Evan have had to rearrange their lives to make accommodations. They just posted a video that includes a health update for curious fans. The two biggest questions on their minds right now are whether Carlin will be able to drive eventually and whether she will be able to have more children. Based on their video updates, Evan's attitude is one of complete selflessness and support for his wife, and Carlin has endured these health struggles with positivity, grace, and trust in God.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there! Today is the perfect day to share this post...
Less than five months after moving to Florida, Erin and Chad Paine are preparing for another life-altering change: they are having another baby! The parents of five just announced that they will soon have six children under the age of nine (Carson turns eight today--happy birthday, Carson!). Their new YouTube video shows the scavenger hunt that they set up to share the news with their kids.
Trace and Lydia Bates just made a big announcement! They recently nailed down a name for their first child and decided to share it with the world. Their son will be called Ryker Cruise Bates. The parents-to-be uploaded a YouTube video that shows their reveal and features a description of how they chose the names.
Lydia Bates just reached an exciting milestone in her first pregnancy. She is at 20 weeks, which means she is halfway through. Baby Bates, a boy, is due in September. The expectant parents just decided on a name and will share it soon. In their latest YouTube video (link below), they talk about the pregnancy and share some of the adjustments they are making to their rental home ahead of their little man's arrival.
-Kelly Bates
Now that Bringing Up Bates is off the air, fans don't have the opportunity to hear from the very encouraging Gil and Kelly Bates as often as they used to, so some of the Bates kids have used their online platforms to allow viewers this privilege.
In early March, parents-to-be Trace and Lydia asked the parents of 19 to share the story of how they ended up with such a large family. Erin recently sat down for interviews with her mom and mother-in-law. She uploaded her chat with Chad's mom last month and just shared her conversation with Kelly (link below).
Now that Erin and Chad Paine are living in Florida, they have a house that is significantly larger than the two-bedroom cabin that they left in Tennessee. That being said, having five children still requires a level of creativity in organizing and allocating space. Erin and Chad recently put their building and decorating skills together to renovate the 12x12 room where all four girls will sleep, which included building a triple bunk bed (YouTube link below).
As many of you probably know, Lawson's wife, Tiffany, was adopted from China at 13 months old. She has received many questions from fans about her adoption, so she decided to share her story in the form of a YouTube Q&A (video below).
Lawson and Tiffany Bates: Adoption Q&A
Another little Bates boy is on the way! As they promised, Trace and Lydia Bates uploaded a video of their gender reveal to YouTube (link below). Family and friends, including some Duggars, got together to help the expectant parents set up for the party and celebrate their baby on the way. This announcement followed just days behind the news that Zach and Whitney Bates' fifth child is a girl.
The lives of the Bates were closely followed on Bringing Up Bates, and they had multiple extended family members featured in various episodes of the show. Chad's mom, Tammy Paine, appeared briefly in a few episodes, including "Boating with the Bates," "Growing Paine," and "He or She What Will the Baby Be?" but she was always present to serve Erin and Chad and never to talk about herself.
Tammy is actually a mother of 10, and Erin believes she has a lot of wisdom to share with other mamas. Erin recently sat down to interview Tammy and uploaded a video of their chat to YouTube (link below).

The year is barely one quarter of the way through, and the Bates have already celebrated multiple births and baby related announcements. In February, the Websters announced Rhett's name, Zach and Whitney shared news of their pregnancy, and the Clarks welcomed Hailey. March has been just as busy, with Trace and Lydia's pregnancy announcement, Rhett Alan Webster's birth, and now a gender reveal from Zach and Whitney.
Baby No. 5 is a girl! The little lady, due in August, will be welcomed by Bradley (8), Kaci (7 in June), Khloe (3), and Jadon (2 in June).
Trace and Lydia have their baby's gender reveal scheduled for March 31st and plan to post the video publicly by the following day.
Rhett Alan Webster is one week old! For those who would like to see footage from Alyssa's birth and delivery, she and John just uploaded a video to YouTube. It starts off with the expectant parents taking a nighttime walk before heading to the hospital and ends with them loading little Rhett in the car so he can go home to his four adoring sisters.
Welcome, Rhett Alan Webster! The Websters' fifth child was born March 18th, 2023, at 7:03pm. Weighing in at 6lbs 1oz, Rhett was Alyssa's second smallest baby. Allie was the largest at 6lbs 11oz, followed by Maci at 6lbs 3 oz and Lexi at 6lbs 2 oz. At 6lbs even, Zoey weighed the least.
Alyssa and John Webster are preparing to welcome their long-awaited baby boy, Rhett Alan Webster! Along with Kelly, the expectant parents are officially checked in at the hospital and ready to meet their first son. Alyssa and John announced the pregnancy in September, followed by the gender reveal in October and the name reveal in February.
Rhett's due date is April 3rd, which made fans wonder if he would share a birthday with one of the four Bates grandchildren born in late March (Kolter Smith on March 25th, Zade Stewart on March 27th, Zoey Webster on March 28th, and Everly Paine on March 30th). But it looks like the little man will get his own special day...at least for now.
When you think of it, pray for a healthy delivery for Alyssa and Rhett.
Update: Rhett arrived at 7:03pm!
The Bates family gathered together for their annual I Love You Day celebration. This was Erin and Chad Paine's first year living out of town, and they had a 10-hour drive to reach Gil and Kelly's house. The Paines uploaded a YouTube video showing footage from the festivities, as well as some tips from Erin on surviving a road trip with kids.
Video: Paines' Trip to Tennessee--Bates Family 'I Love You Day' 2023
Another Bates is headed to the altar! Jackson Bates proposed to his girlfriend, Emerson, and she said yes. He popped the question in beautiful Florida, and in true Bates fashion, a handful of family members were asked to be part of the celebration, including Gil and Kelly, Zach and Whitney, Trace and Lydia, and the Websters. Jackson just turned 21, and he is No. 12 of the 19 Bates.
This year is turning out to be another year full of new Bates grandbabies! In both 2021 and 2022, the family welcomed four little ones, and there will be at least four delivered this year, as well. Trace and Lydia Bates just announced that their first is due in September! The expectant parents took to YouTube to share the moment when Lydia found out and revealed the news to Trace. Their child will be Gil and Kelly Bates' 26th grandchild. Hailey Clark, born last month, was #23. Rhett Webster is due in April, and Zach and Whitney's fifth should arrive in August.
If you were a fan of the Bates' family's reality TV show, Bringing Up Bates, you probably heard Gil and Kelly Bates share a little bit about what led them to have 19 children. Trace and Lydia Bates recently had them as guests on their YouTube channel and prompted them to share the whole story. You might be surprised to learn that these two began their marriage planning to wait a while to become parents and only intending to have a couple children. What changed their minds?
In the quiet of the late night hours, Erin and Chad Paine recently spent 40 minutes answering questions they have received from fans. Will they have a sixth child? How is Erin's health? Which sisters is Erin closest to? How does Erin simplify homeschooling with numerous kids? The Paines share their responses to these questions and more in their latest YouTube video.
Katie and Travis were able to bring little Hailey Clark home! For those who would like to watch the emotional moment when Hailey entered the world, the proud parents uploaded part two of their birth story to YouTube. The first segment was posted a few days ago.
Until last week, the Bates had six double birthdays. Now, they have five doubles and one triple! Hailey James Clark arrived just in time to share Jackson and Addallee's special day. She was born at 10:29pm on February 17th, weighing 6 lbs 1 oz and measuring 19 inches long. Jackson turned 21, and Addallee turned 17. Hailey arrived less than three weeks before Travis' 22nd birthday.
For reference, the shared birthdays are listed below.
February 1st: Trace Bates (1997) and Jeb Bates (2012)
February 17th: Jackson Bates (2002) and Addallee Bates (2006)
April 11th: Carlin Stewart (1998) and Allie Webster (2015)
August 2nd: Callie Bates (2009) and Cambree Smith (2022)
September 15th: Judson Bates (2010) and Brandon Keilen (1989)
November 9: Alyssa Webster (1994) and Kade Smith (2018)
Sweet little Hailey James Clark has arrived! Congratulations to new brand parents Katie and Travis Clark. When Katie and Travis headed to the hospital early yesterday morning, Kelly, Carlin, and Evan went along for support. Part one of the Clarks' birth story has already been uploaded to YouTube (link below). The Stewarts also shared a video of behind-the-scenes clips.
It's go time! Katie Clark is in labor, which means it won't be long before Hailey Clark makes her grand debut. If you think of it, keep mama and baby in your prayers. Even though Katie and Travis live in New Jersey, they have family members from Tennessee in town for this special occasion.
Just weeks before Alyssa and John Webster welcome their fifth child and possibly days before Katie and Travis Clark meet their firstborn, Zach and Whitney Bates have some baby news of their own to share. You guessed it...they are expecting No. 5! Whitney is due in August 2023. She had her 10-week appointment last week.
It’s almost go time! At their 35-week obstetrics appointment, Katie and Travis Clark were told by Katie’s doctor that Hailey will make her appearance sooner than expected. Katie is progressing quickly and will likely go into labor within the next couple weeks. They share the details in their latest YouTube video.
Alyssa and John Webster just revealed the name they chose for their first son. Rhett Alan Webster will join sisters Allie Jane, Lexi Mae, Zoey Joy, and Maci Jo in the next couple months. The expectant parents revealed their newly decorated nursery in their most recent YouTube video.
Alyssa Webster is about 31 weeks pregnant with her fifth child (her first boy!). You can see footage from a recent ultrasound appointment in Alyssa and John's most recent YouTube video. The second half of the video shows a sporting event in Tampa that the Websters attended with Gil and Kelly Bates and other members of the Bates family.
