Graham Bates' Birth Story

It isn't often that we hear from Nathan and Esther Bates. On October 4th, they welcomed their second child, Graham Alan Bates, so they have spent the winter adjusting to life as a family of four. The proud parents of two just uploaded Graham's birth story to their YouTube account. You'll see footage from Esther's labor and delivery, and you'll watch the sweet moment when big sister Kenna Bates meets her baby brother.

Graham was born 13 days before Kenna's second birthday and 10 days before Esther turned 27. Graham shares a middle name with Rhett Webster, while Kenna Joy shares a middle name with Esther, Alyssa Webster, and Zoey Webster.

  1. I didn't think they'd go there, but no is required to watch Esther giving birth.

  2. I saw they posted that video and Lawson and Tiffany posted the behind the scenes addition on their YouTube channel. Why both couples decided to wait 5 months to post it is beyond me when Graham was born in October. And another fact too is that him and his cousin Harvey Grey Clark are eight days apart too.

  4. Can society just stop it with birth stories? Nobody needs to hear what happened to you as a baby came out. We don't talk about other medical procedures and body functions like that. Details are not needed. I can't imagine what goes through someone's mind to think this is something to share.

    1. Here's the thing, though. Some women who are pregnant or thinking about having a baby or have had babies are interested in what it's going to be like or like to hear about other peoples' experiences. I have often heard women talking about their birth stories with each other. Just because YOU don't want to hear about it does not mean that everyone else is just like you or even should be just like you. Learn to have some tolerance for people who are not like you. It's self-centered to think your opinion or your likes are the only "right" ones.

    2. Public birth stories are not necessary and in fact tasteless. If you want to hear about pregnancy and labor, talk to your doctor. Hearing stories from other women is not going to help because your experience will be different. Sometimes those stories purposely scare other women, to prove how strong or brave you were and to underhandedly shame others who aren't. The "I did it without an epidural" stories are the worst in those categories.

    3. @5:58 There's little sense listening to these stories if you're pregnant because no two women are going to have the same experience! You're only setting yourself up for fear or disappointment if you expect your own labor to be the same or even similar as the stories you hear. Take birthing classes! Don't turn to Doctor YouTube or Nurse TikTok!

    4. Well, I disagree. Birth stories are interesting to me, and I've known many women who feel the same way.

  6. Thing is these birth stories are all the same. Pregnant woman in labor goes to hospital and births a baby. Think they need to just stop with the videos on social media.

    1. You could say the same about weddings, yet wedding shows are popular too. Ask an OB nurse if all births are the same. Or any mom of more than one kid.
